Queensland AIDS Council (QuAC)

The Queensland AIDS Council — known as QuAC — is Queensland's peak LGBTQ+ health organisation, providing sexual health services, HIV treatment and prevention support, PrEP access, mental health resources, and community services to LGBTQ+ Queenslanders. Founded in 1984, QuAC was Queensland's primary community response to the AIDS crisis and has evolved over four decades into a comprehensive health and community service organisation. The organisation is based in Newstead, immediately north of Fortitude Valley, positioning it close to Brisbane's LGBTQ+ community geography. QuAC runs the LGBTQ+ health clinic, operates Queensland's LGBTQ+ domestic violence support services, and provides community education and advocacy across a wide range of LGBTQ+ health and wellbeing issues. For LGBTQ+ visitors to Brisbane who need health services, sexual health testing, information, or support, QuAC is the primary reference point and a community institution that is central to understanding Brisbane's LGBTQ+ infrastructure.
