Extremely frustrating experience. We waited for more than an hour, only to be informed that the food had sold out. Staff should have been transparent from the start instead of leaving customers waiting unnecessarily. The lack of communication and consideration for customers’ time was unacceptable. Unfortunately, this has left a very negative impression.

Rude Rude Manager. No internet and they use the Hey Now app. Repeatedly failed to process order. Closed app re ordered using another device. 5 mind later an email confirnation came through. Three staff working on floor with limited english refusef to help me. When i repeatedly explained the app said order could not be processed with my dining party confirming they had seen the app error the manager was extremely rude and said ive made it unless you show me proof you have to take it. Mocha came out with 3/4 of a tiny glass cup. Ridicuously unprofessional we didnt have lunch and went elsewhere

The wait was 1.5 hours for our first dish, the waitstaff were unprofessional and unfriendly, and there was no transparency about the wait time or the lack of staff. We were very disappointed and if we could rate it zero stars we would.

Terrible experience. We waited 40 minutes and did not receive food. Other customers present waited 2 hrs and did not receive food. When we asked for a refund the staff made no effort to process the refund or send through a confirmation that a refund would be processed. Instead they asked us to trust that they would refund us later in the week. Only when yet another couple came to complain that they had been waiting for an hour and a half did a manager come to see us. When the manager did attend the refund was processed in 2 minutes. I do not recommend this restaurant.

Accomodation was really bad. Dirty bathtub in the room, toilet seat was loose and almost falling off the actual toilet itself was loose. If you like people slamming doors, yelling and talking loudly you will love this place, you can hear everything I could even hear the next door’s neighbours shower and bath tub running. Floor boards in hall way sounded make a crunching sound like they are moving under the carpet. So happy we were there only 1 night as that was enough. Definitely not worth the $285 we paid for the night. I personally think your food options are a joke and something you really need to look at are you a hotel or motel ? Food like that at that price you should be ashamed who ever is running your kitchen should just go to charcoal chicken and stay there as that’s the best they can do. DO YOURSELF A FAVOUR DON’T STAY HERE it’s like staying in a hostel.

I agree with Leigh Rose’s review of breakfast at Frangoes. What a rip off. We dropped in for a quick breakfast this morning. Ordered 2 orange juices, sourdough toast with butter and vegemite, a blueberry muffin, an English breakfast tea and a large flat white. Total cost $61.00! Although this included a 10% Sunday surcharge paying $54.90 without a surcharge wasn’t worth it considering what we received. The $9 orange juices were 3/4 full of ice so we were paying for less than half a glass each. The toast was the size of a small palm on my wife’s hand, was commercial white toast and cost $8 per slice! This wasn’t on the menu so it was out fault for not checking up on the price per slice beforehand. The tea we asked for the tea bag to be separate from the water as we don’t like our tea strong. The hot water didn’t arrive in a pot but a small stainless steel jug holding enough for almost 2 espresso size cups of tea. The coffee was average. The muffin was fresh and full of blueberries so 4 stars for the muffin. We think this place is doing a roaring trade from unsuspecting tourists. Obviously the licals ignore this place, so should the tourists.

We have a dreadfull experience for breakfast this morning. The service was so bad that we felt insulted from the getgo. Waitress should be trained properly, but after trying to deal with manager about the issue we realize that the problem stared at the top. We order cake, sweets and breakfast meals, one of the meals included a HOT sausage that wasn't expected at all, wasn't mention in the ordering QR menu that it was going to be hot, when we mentioned it they didn't even offer and exchange or a refund, they just estated that it was "normal". The coffes were almost cold and they came 35 minutes before food..... (???).... it was obvious that the service wasn't up to standards and the manager, when approach, was obviously the reason they behive the way they did. He try to mok us saying outloud that thanks to us now he is going to make a new rule where hot coffes will get to the table together with food....... we tried to be polite but it's imposible when the other side is not able to understand and even worst try to use excuses when there is none. Unexperience is an over statement. Educated...... he wasn't. When we arrived we wittness other customers running out in disbelieve of how bad were they treated, we should have taken action then, but we didn't know the extent of the establishment incompetence. Entitled peoplo dont get far, we know. A good point must be said about the kitchen guys, food was spot on, they deserve ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️. We will never came back and will make sure any one in our reach knows what to expect from this wanna bees. And finally to the managment, if you can not take customers enquires when you staff or yourself dont know how to "manage" and get a simple order right..... get a job in other industry, hospitality is not for you...... F.Y.A.

Location is great, but the only reason this place is busy is because it’s on the corner and attracts customers. Don’t get it twisted, the food was mediocre at best, the customer service was appalling - no greeting, no apologies for delays with food, it was overpriced, and overall it was a disappointing experience. Avoid coming here, there are much nicer places in Daylesford.

Absolutely dreadful experience disguised as a “romantic” getaway. From the moment we arrived, it was clear this place was trying far too hard to present itself as boutique luxury, but in reality it felt more like an overpriced, dressed-up motel with a confused identity crisis. It couldn’t decide whether it wanted to be modern chic or traditional country charm, and instead delivered an awkward, mismatched experience that missed the mark entirely. The bathroom design was by far one of the worst features. The toilet was fully visible from the bed through glass doors, offering virtually zero privacy. No curtain, no proper screening, no soundproofing — just an incredibly uncomfortable setup that completely killed any sense of romance. I genuinely had to drape a towel over the glass and physically hold it in place while using the toilet. That is not luxury. That is absurd. The shower-over-bath setup was also bizarre and poorly designed. While we were told it was a shower over bath, the reality was an awkward, uncomfortable arrangement that felt impractical and unpleasant. The strange exposed bolts in the bath made it feel grubby and uncomfortable to sit in, and the whole setup just felt cheap and poorly thought out. Cleanliness was another major issue. There were suspicious stains on the doona, questionable marks on the bathroom floor, and an overall sense that hygiene standards were not where they should be. For accommodation marketed as premium or romantic, this was unacceptable. To top it off, the floors creaked constantly, and the doors slammed so loudly that neighbouring guests repeatedly woke us throughout the stay. Every movement in the building seemed amplified, making it nearly impossible to relax. Overall, this was an incredibly disappointing stay — uncomfortable, noisy, lacking privacy, and nowhere near the romantic escape it claims to be. Between the bizarre bathroom, cleanliness concerns, poor design choices, and disruptive noise, I would absolutely not stay here again. Save your money and look elsewhere.

Honestly the worst experience we have ever had!! We had to wait an hour and 10 minutes for food. When we complained we got given dirty looks the whole time by wait staff, when we got given our food, the steak wasn’t even cooked properly it was RAW - see photo, then my parmigiana had someone’s hair in my food! Then they have had the ordasity to charge us $200 !! The lady that charged literally popped in the $200 dollar charge and wandered off and continued serving people and left I us to basically pay the fee using the card device! Absolutely disgraceful service you should all be ashamed of yourselves especially on Mother’s Day!

Listen, the food tasted fine, & the courtyard was pretty, but it ends there. The service was absolutely subpar, & the food was ridiculously overpriced. We first got into the cafe where the server slapped our menus onto a dirty table, where there were used half-empty glasses. We sat there for 15mins before anyone thought to clean it, but we decided to move to the courtyard anyway. The same server forgot which wine was which so we had to work out it ourselves, & there was wine spilled all over the bases, so we had to ask for a napkin, & she literally gave us one. We weren't even offered table water. We then watched her bringing plates to another table, & she was carrying three halfway down her leg - we thought she was gonna drop them. The food took way too long to come out, considering it was 2 salads & a burger. The $30 burger was tuck-shop quality, & the only vegan option on the menu - a $26 cauliflower dish - was actually the size of a side dish I would not have paid more than half the price for it! I was seriously wondering where the rest of my food was, & was still left hungry... Guys, there are so many better places to eat in the town; don't waste your money here.

I had a really enjoyable stay at Hotel Frangos. The location is absolutely fantastic—right in the heart of Daylesford and within easy walking distance to shops, cafés, and everything you need. The staff were a real highlight of the experience. They were incredibly lovely, attentive, and welcoming, which made the stay feel warm and personal from start to finish. The room itself had a fun, quirky charm with a unique vibe that definitely sets the hotel apart. It felt full of character and added to the overall experience. That said, there were a few areas that could be improved. The room wasn’t the cleanest, with noticeable dust in places, and it felt like the hotel could benefit from some general maintenance and a bit of TLC to bring it back to its full potential. Overall, a great stay thanks to the atmosphere, location, and wonderful staff, but with a few improvements, it could be exceptional.
