Yuji is the owner and he's a great guy!! 🙅🏻‍♂️ No question about it. I highly recommend you come and enjoy his recommendations and great drinks.

They make you pay for a snack / seating charge. Ridiculous for a bar with 5 people inside.

It’s on the third floor. We left just when everyone started to smoke.

This bar had a great vibe. The host was amazing and friendly. The clientele was also fun. We sang, drank, chatted, and made friends. I strongly recommend. While the snacks were standard and the drinks were simple - that wasn’t the point. It was the atmosphere and fun that was special. I’ll be back when I am in Kyoto again.

We really enjoyed our time here that we came twice. Once during the week, which was more quiet, and once during the weekend and it was busy. Yuji was very friendly and welcoming. As is common, there is a cover charge which includes 1 drink and some simple nibbles. The bar is not fancy but homely. Yuji has been running it for many years and hearing his story was lovely. He also offered some sightseeing information and recommendations. When we came back, he checked in on what we had done and seen. The bar itself can only fit about 12-16 people so if all seats are taken you will be turned away. This is not the place to come in big groups. It's intimate and encourages conversation and meeting people. It is a GAY MEN'S ONLY venue. The karaoke is fun with a robust selection. Once it gets going, everyone chimes in which really lifts the spirits. The patrons were mostly tourists from all over and it's great if you want to have a chat, laugh and share stories. Smoking is allowed so be aware of that's not your vibe.

We are western tourists. Had a ton of fun drinking/making conversation with other western tourists and expats. Sang karaoke. Bar tender speaks English, friendly and unprompted gave us advice for things to do in Kyoto. We did both things and had great times. Saved us from scrolling our phones for hours trying to plan. Only thing its set up as a small bar your kind stuck with who your randomly seated next to although I liked all. Theres a cover charge but still ends up being cheap for Americans.

Apple is a bit hard to find, but a hidden gem! It’s up a few flights of stairs on 3F, in the heart of the bar district. The staff are incredibly warm and hospitable! We sang karaoke with the other guests while the bartenders had maps and sharpies and provided advice on things to do. They made sure each arrival was made to feel comfortable. What a blast! Contrast this to the other gay bar, Azure, around the corner. The staff there were surly and made no attempt to help us with karaoke or even talk to us. Go to APPLE!
