HOTEL AIS HATAGAYA

This independent apartment ticked all the boxes we were looking for. Clean, well located in a quiet street, good price and fast answers from the host. Kitchen, bathroom and other amenities were functional. I happily recommend it !

Our stay at this hotel enhanced our visit to Tokyo, it was at the perfect location, very calm and not far from shinjuku station. Would definitely recommend.

Such an amazing stay at AIS Hatagaya. Everything we needed the room had provided. Close to Hatagaya station which was our main point of travel as well as 15 minute walk to Sasazuka station where we ate and shopped quite a bit. Safe, friendly area for everyone around. Lovely quaint restaurants and bars and enough kombinis for all needs. I particularly loved the Seims pharmacy for late night shopping and chocolates. The cleaning staff, she was always friendly and helpful when needed. See you again in future AIS Hatagaya. Thank you for a memorable first trip to Japan.

Good location if a little hard to find, but great rooms and appliances. Nice beds and TV

For a last minute booking it was a steal of a deal with the location, the room was just perfect. I was in Japan to see Lady Gaga in concert and this spot was just at the perfect price point and its location as well, the room set up was great! 10/10 would definitely book again for a short 4 day stay in Japan

Booked this because we had no other options due to waiting until last minute. We stayed in 4 different places during our trip and even though this place wasn’t the most spacious, it was comfortable, clean and relatively updated. The manual outlined details on how to use the appliances. Overall, this place was my favorite despite the location being further out of any main attractions. The soundproofing was good enough, the appliances worked well, the bathroom was very clean and when we lost an item, communicating with the host was easy and we arranged a time to pickup the forgotten item. I didn’t take any stars off for this but although the room was very nice and clean, the bathroom/washing machine area did have a weird smell like mildew or dare I say, sewage? I’m not sure how to describe it.

My first negative review on Google, but it was necessary and it's going to be long. Context: 1-week stay in Tokyo at the end of September 2025 for 2 people in a 4th-floor apartment. I'll start with the negatives: - It's not a hotel, so there's no reception, no luggage transfer service; it's more like an Airbnb with self check-in. - No elevator. - Layout needs improvement: despite the apartment's large size, the presence of two double beds wastes a lot of space; we didn't have room to open our two suitcases. Furthermore, the closets were unusable because they were already filled with cleaning supplies (mop, etc.) and a large IKEA bag. - No curtains on some windows - Stale tobacco smell upon arrival, which we reported immediately after check-in (mainly so they wouldn't think it came from us) - The worst for last: a stain and a smell of vomit on one of the duvets. I'm focusing on this last point because our report of this problem wasn't taken seriously, which ruined our experience at the hotel. To give you some background: we reported a stain on one of the duvets that had a strong vomit smell via the Booking app and sent them a photo as requested. This is where it gets absurd: they told us the stain was due to the duvet's age and that it appeared more visible in the photo than in reality because of the lighting and the angle (???? how can they claim to know without having seen the duvet in person? I'm the one who took the photo!). Therefore, they told us they couldn't replace the duvet. After we expressed our dissatisfaction, they asked for a video, only to finally tell us they would change the duvet the next day. The duvet wasn't changed the next day, but the day after that, which was the day before our departure. It was a very unpleasant experience, especially on vacation, as the exchange dragged on for several days without us being taken seriously. For the sake of objectivity, I'll mention the positive points: - A washing machine is available - The location is convenient, just two stops from Shinjuku Station and in a nice neighborhood. Overall, I don't recommend this hotel due to the numerous negative points mentioned, but primarily because their customer service was neither reliable nor responsive.
