Château Lambert

We felt completely at home at Château Lambert in Belgium. The hospitality was exceptionally warm, and you can immediately tell that a lot of love and passion has been poured into this special historical place. The castle itself is steeped in history – there's something new to discover around every corner. You can practically feel the passage of time and easily imagine the stories that have unfolded here over the years. It's precisely this atmosphere that makes the stay so special. Our room had everything that's structurally possible in a listed castle. This authentic charm is simply part of the experience and makes the stay much more interesting than in an ordinary hotel. We really enjoyed the breakfast – plentiful, cozy, and with an atmosphere that made us feel almost at home. Dinner was also truly excellent: the mussels with fries were delicious and perfectly rounded off the day. Special praise also goes to Charlotte, probably the most attentive guard goose at Château Lambert. She reliably guarded our car and took her job very seriously – better than many a parking attendant. Thank you so much for this wonderful stay at Château Lambert. We thoroughly enjoyed our time and will cherish the memories of this special place. Best regards from Cologne!

What a find! I couldn’t have wished for a better stay. From the moment we arrived we were welcomed by the host and made to feel at home. We stayed in the suite which offered a big comfortable bed, bunk beds for the children and an en-suite with double sinks, shower and a huge bath. Downstairs we enjoyed using the billiard room which had a full sized snooker table and all the board games you could think of. Our host cooked us a lovely meal and also dropped and picked us up from the train station so we could enjoy a day out in Brussels. We also enjoyed our evening sat by the open fire talking with our host, a most fascinating, intelligent man who shared with us stories of his life and travels and introduced us to his son who was as equally polite and welcoming. We didn’t just stay in accommodation, we were welcomed into someone’s home and made to feel at home ourselves. Thank you so much for having us ❤️

Are there any inspection services for bed and breakfasts in Wallonia? That's the big question I'm asking myself after our stay in this house… The electrical system is completely substandard: old electrical cables and extension cords plugged into each other. As indicated in the rooms, it's impossible to plug in the electric heater (the only source of heat in this freezing building, as the central heating doesn't work) and the coffee maker at the same time, under penalty—and I quote—of "tripping the building's power supply." The emergency exit signs are nonexistent or at least invisible. The hygiene is deplorable; there's no sound or thermal insulation between the rooms. The shared bathrooms are dirty and antiquated, not to mention the downstairs toilet… which has no lighting. No one greeted us. We entered a large, ramshackle brick room, dirty and smelly, a mixture of dog odor and the stench of old logs burning in an unkempt fireplace. The room was freezing, heated only by a small bathroom radiator that had been running all day. After 20 minutes without seeing anyone, I called our host, who told us he was out visiting several kilometers away for the day and that we should choose an available room ourselves. It was difficult to choose, as they were all equally dirty and cold… We had hoped to see him the next day at breakfast. No such luck. A young woman who barely spoke the language informed us that Mr. Stéphane was still asleep. She haphazardly set up a breakfast table for us, sponsored by Aldi (true story): individually wrapped, mass-produced chocolate croissants, day-old bread, Gouda cheese still in its supermarket packaging, half-empty, lukewarm, cheap apple juice, and undrinkable coffee. All of this was consumed amidst the lingering smell of an old fireplace and a dog barking incessantly, trapped somewhere in a room. And it was still freezing. Our poor waitress was wearing a small faux-fur jacket, she was so cold herself. We left this place very quickly—and I will certainly be reporting it—without ever having seen Mr. Stéphane… who was asleep.

Château Lambert offers a very elegant and tranquil setting, where the atmosphere immediately invites you to slow down and enjoy the surroundings. The sense of space and calm makes it a lovely choice for couples looking for a refined and peaceful escape. If you’re drawn to refined moments of calm, places like this really stand out. We usually look for that same balance of privacy and comfort when planning wellness time, which is also why Saunadelizia fits naturally within this type of experience.

If you are looking for something with uncommon - that’s Your place. If you’re looking for host that will leave the main door open for you in the middle of the night- that’s Your place. If you’re looking for an out-of-the-ordinary conversation partner - that’s Your place. If you’re looking for beautiful, original “la fin du siècle” house and cosy furniture - that’s Your place. If you’re looking for sterile, corporate environment - it’s not a place for you. It’s my place definitely. Did not expect such a thing there. Will come back 100%. Thanks Philippe :)

I missed my flight and found Château Lambert on Google. I had a lovely evening there with a simple but hearty meal. The King Room was comfortable and beautifully decorated. I really enjoyed interacting with the other guests. There were three different lounges and a huge snooker table. A white goose watched over the parking lot. Everything still seems to be from the period, as if we were in 1850. Period furniture and decor. Very beautiful wooded grounds.

We are a couple looking for a quiet place near Charleroi to relax. We found Château Lambert and ended up staying for a week. Philippe made us feel right at home. A crackling fire in the fireplace and dinner every evening. The room was comfortable. The breakfast was varied and plentiful. The price was very reasonable. We will be back in the summer with our two grandchildren and will book the Suite.

We stayed here for one night and unfortunately had a very poor experience. The room had the toilet and shower directly inside the bedroom, separated only by a shower curtain, which offered no privacy and made the stay very uncomfortable. The heating was switched off throughout the night and only turned on in the morning, so the room was cold. The mattress and pillows were extremely uncomfortable, and neither of us slept well. In the evening, the owner lit a fire in the fireplace downstairs, and the smoke spread throughout the house, including our room. It was difficult to breathe and I became dizzy. When I informed the owner, I was told to simply open the windows in my room, which did not solve the problem. The same thing happened in the morning, and breakfast was served in the same smoky room, making it impossible to eat. The food offered was very basic anyway. For the price we paid, the conditions were extremely disappointing. I left with my clothes, hair and belongings smelling strongly of smoke, and I could still taste it in my throat afterwards. I do not recommend staying here.
