Hotel Flandria - Centrum

Basic rooms, simple hotel. Noisy, so you can hear everyone in the hallway or even the neighbors snoring. Affordable and very central. The location is great, parking nearby in Parking de Reep. Friendly staff and a fine fresh breakfast.

Worthless and filthy hotel. Dated and poorly maintained, uneven floors. Mold in the bathrooms. Loose toilet seats. Breakfast is truly a joke. Do not go here. You won't find anything worse. Maybe under a bridge in Paris...

Cozy, charming hotel in an older building. Our room was simple, lacked some color like a nice frame or some nice wallpaper on the wall, and I missed having something to hang our clothes on, but the most important thing was that it was clean and we slept well. After a delicious fresh breakfast with plenty of choice, we were able to explore Ghent on foot, as St. Bavo's Cathedral, the Belfry, and the Gravensteen, among others, are within walking distance. Creaking stairs and squeaking doors are part of the charm of an older hotel. The fact that we also saw the staff in paint-covered work clothes in between means they are actively working on improvements. The reception, bar, breakfast room, and downstairs toilet looked creative and cozy.

The room is okay, neat, renovated bathroom. Good beds, the hotel is quite basic but certainly adequate. Breakfast is basic too, but certainly with plenty of choice.

Very well located, which would justify the price. No elevator, narrow and noisy stairs, poorly insulated bedroom doors, and a bed that was okay but creaked. The view from room 22 was nice. But the worst part was the bathroom: a tiny sink, a noisy toilet, and nonexistent shower plumbing… water up to my ankles after a short shower. There wasn't even any hot water on the last morning. They didn't refill the toilet paper or clean the room, but that was less of a problem than the shower. For that price, it's a rip-off.

We booked our stay through the Social Deal app for €75, including breakfast and a welcome drink (instead of €150, which is absolutely unjustified). We received a very warm welcome upon arrival, with a small map highlighting activities and places to discover—a very thoughtful touch. The hotel boasts an excellent, central location, ideal for exploring the city on foot during a short stay. The room is simple and adequate, but a few improvements would be appreciated: a rather strong odor emanating from the bathroom, which dissipated quickly after airing it out, and an unusable wardrobe that clutters the room. Adding a large mirror and hooks for hanging coats would be a real plus. In the bathroom, additional towel hooks and a full roll of toilet paper would improve comfort. The entrance door, after reception closes, could be adjusted or replaced for easier access. The place feels more like a hostel than a hotel, but it seems to be undergoing renovations, which is encouraging. Breakfast is satisfactory, varied, and regularly replenished. A non-alcoholic option for the welcome drink would be a nice touch. The bedding is comfortable, which is another plus for the stay.

Good location, but the management is quite strange. Although it’s called a hotel, it really feels more like a hostel. We paid the full amount on Booking, including taxes and fees, but the receptionist — who, by the way, only works until 5 PM and then becomes unreachable — started calling another booking website and even contacted the owner to question our payment. Even though we showed her proof of payment, she didn’t react at all. €13 is not a big amount, but it’s a matter of principle It's strange that the hotel is trying to make money on a fictitious additional fee, rather than on quality improvements or repairs

Not a great experience When we arrived, we were asked to pay an extra €13 city tax, even though the booking clearly said all taxes were included. That was confusing. We tried to clarify it, but the receptionist wasn’t very helpful and didn’t offer any solution or refund.

The location is excellent, close to the city center. You can walk to all the most iconic sights, and it's also very near the bus station. The staff is incredibly attentive. The lady who helped us made a point of speaking to us in Spanish and gave us a room with a private bathroom. They even let us store our luggage early in the morning before check-in so we could explore the city without our bags! I'm extremely grateful for the wonderful service. Excellent value for money.
