Hotel very well located. The room was okay. Lots of dust. The faucet in our bathroom was very grimy. The terrace was overgrown with weeds and dirty. A shame, otherwise it would have been a nice place to sit. Breakfast very basic.
We stayed at the hotel in Braunschweig from May 29th to 30th, 2026, and will never, ever book it again. The room was absolutely filthy. The carpet (which really should have been removed) hadn't been vacuumed, let alone cleaned, before our arrival. There were traces of other guests. There was dust everywhere. The bedside tables were covered in a greasy film of dust, there was a hole in the bedsheet, there were cobwebs on the ceiling, the kettle had water in it and limescale flakes on the provided glasses—disgusting! The TV didn't work (which wasn't a big deal for us), and the wall lamps were covered in a thick layer of dust. The bathroom was dark, windowless, and very, very dirty. The toilet brush...🤢 There was a layer of something around the faucet...🤢 The hairdryer holder was covered in a thick layer of dust. Everything in this room was dusty, covered in a thick layer of dust. It hadn't been properly cleaned in ages! ... I found it disgusting 🤢 Of course, I wrote about this via WhatsApp, but the condition of the room was not improved. Their exact words: "We are fully booked and unfortunately cannot offer you another room." Their exact words: "We will try to send one." We never walked around there without shoes or socks, nor did we shower there! Luckily, we were only there for one night! We can't say what the other rooms are like, and we didn't have breakfast there. We're not fussy, but the room MUST be clean!! We paid €89 without breakfast. In the morning, upon departure, we were informed of our complaint. The lady apologized and offered us breakfast free of charge. But I didn't want it. This hotel is absolutely NOT recommended!
We were truly delighted with this hotel. The building dates back to approximately 1483–1487, and you can feel that special historical atmosphere everywhere. Of course, the hotel isn't modern in the traditional sense—but that's precisely what makes it so charming. You really step back in time: the building itself, the courtyard, the rooms, even the distinctive scent of the old house tell a story. For us, it was something truly special and incredibly atmospheric. We also have to give a huge compliment to the beds and especially the mattresses—we've rarely slept so comfortably in a hotel. Truly restful. Our only minor suggestion for improvement would be more comfortable or modern pillows. Otherwise, we had a wonderful stay and would return in a heartbeat.
Simple hotel in old house from 16th century. Very steep steps might be difficult for people with handcap. Very small bathroom could have been more clean. Beds extremely soft. Breakfast was Ok but not more. Top location near city center.
Good location. Parking is difficult. Service is so-so. The room wasn't cleaned on the last day before departure. No fresh towels, etc. I informed the receptionist at checkout. Her response: "Then she must have forgotten." No apology. Simply unacceptable!
A television without reception (allegedly for some time now) reflecting the state of the hotel.
