DIVINE Bar

The Divine Bar is a cozy and welcoming place for everyone. It's a great spot to relax with a friend, chat, and enjoy delicious cakes, or perhaps attend the Drag Brunch, where you can feast on tasty food, admire the amazing performers, and be thoroughly entertained. The staff is always incredibly friendly and tries to fulfill every wish – making you feel more like you're visiting friends in their living room than in a typical bar or restaurant.

Last Saturday, I went there for the first time with some friends to see one of the drag shows. I've been there several times before, even without a show. The show itself was great. Kudos to the performers (gender-neutral). The service, however, was an absolute disaster. Again. After we were shown to our table, it took 15 minutes, even though the place wasn't very busy, just to take our order. Another 30 minutes passed before the drinks finally arrived. When they have around 50 people in the place, I expect it to be a bit quicker to remove the cap from a 0.33l glass bottle and bring it to a table. On top of that, they no longer serve Stauder beer, but Budweiser… and most of the soft drinks are now from Gerolsteiner, at relatively high prices. There's definitely room for improvement in both the service and the selection of drinks. Otherwise, it's a very nice place.

A beautifully decorated and centrally located gay bar with drag shows and other events. We really enjoyed it. The staff is incredibly friendly. We (unfortunately) arrived late in the evening; next time we'll come earlier.

It finally reopened yesterday (April 17, 2026). The artistic direction, with Miss Foxy Bless, remains excellent, while the catering is now handled by Felicitas and Dennis from Felis, and is finally professional! Unfortunately, I didn't have time for the opening until after 1 a.m., but I still managed to get a sip of delicious Baden white wine to toast the occasion. Everything made a fantastic impression – the atmosphere, the new staff, the owners, and the guests. I'm looking forward to the wine list!

A gem, a diverse creative space, and a pearl of escapism—truly "divine." An enrichment not only for Essen, but for the entire Ruhr region.
