The Theresienwiese has a rather "quieter existence" for the majority of the year (pedestrians, skateboarders and windskaters share the paved paths), i.e. in winter parts of the area are reserved for the Tollwood winter festival (see pictures - a mixture of Christmas and artisan market and organic gastronomy) and in spring the Spring Festival (the so-called Spring Wiesn) takes place here and is accompanied (in 2026 on 18.04.2026) by the Theresienwiese flea market (approx. 300 booths and 30,000 visitors). The turbulent period for the Theresienwiese then begins at the end of June - i.e. from then on, the Oktoberfest begins to build up and this in turn ends every year on the first Sunday in October or on October 3, if it falls on a Monday or Tuesday.

We went to the esplanade and now there is a lively market. Food and many stalls of all kinds. Also activities. We saw a very visual fire show

Great meadow area used for different festivals depending on the season. Make sure to constantly check out what is going on there.

this year's visit to the Oktoberfest we were in the Marstall tent for the first time and also for the last time. I've never been so ripped off on the entire meadow in the last 10 years. We all don’t have to look at the money and so we ordered a snack plate for 2 people (45 euros) in between. When she came we noticed that although butter and dips were there but no bread. On request from the service staff it was said that bread had to be ordered extra, 3 slices for 7 euros. If you ever Google for "bread plate" you will read that there is always bread there. There's pure rip-off of the worst kind and therefore never Marstall again. There are better tents

Oktoberfest was a hoot! Be prepared for weather, crowds and lots of beer . We chose not to get reservations and took our chances to find a place to drink. We opted for tables outside during the day which turned out perfect. Bier tents at night were wild and loud. Despite huge crowds service was fast. More traditional tents were a great experience. Throughly enjoyed!! Expect bathroom lines

I was very disappointed with the event as the impression was greatly tarnished by the security staff. The staff were not only unfriendly, but also downright rude and unhelpful. Instead of ensuring safety and a pleasant process, one felt more like a disruptive factor. Questions were either ignored or answered very concisely and unkindly.

In addition to the spring festival currently taking place on the Theresienweise, the annual classic car meeting took place after the giant flea market on April 27. From the Goggomobil to the Cadillac, vehicle models of the last decades (from 1995 and older) were shown and partly also offered for sale. Many vintage car enthusiasts had come in beautiful spring weather.

We were at the spring festival on the otherwise empty Theresienwiese. The Spring Festival is more the size of a folk festival in the countryside, but is still interesting and offers a lot of variety, even if the big rides of the Oktoberfest are missing. There are interesting rides, shooting and game stands, lot stands and snack stands. The beer tents are also usually set up at country folk festivals and are correspondingly small, but there is enough space.

We were here in March, without Wies‘n, but a lot of space, view of Hall of Fame and Bavaria and from there other sights in view, a lot of garbage and broken glass, but a quiet spot in this time

I have been there for Octoberfest in 2018. The square on the festival term gives you energy and relaxation. There are lots of activities around where you can meet new people
