Hotel Città dei Mille

The hotel Città dei Mille is located in the lower part of Bergamo, not far away from the railway station and near by one of the most important roundabouts between highway, railway station and the city center. Therefore you will have some traffic jam in the morning and in the evening. The house itself is some old style but in still good conditions. The rooms and the bathrooms are not new but well maintained. In my bathroom the shower cabin could not be closed completely because of the wc shrink. Air condition worked well and there is enough space to stay in the room and to work at the desk. Breakfast is included and is served in directly in the hall; space is a little small and you may wait to get a table. You find all the usual things you expect in an Italian hotel but nothing special. The service people are really friendly and help you to get all you need regarding your stay. Parking room is available and you need not to pay for it - top! So all in all the level of quality related to the cost is excellent, I can recommend this hotel and will come back for my next stay in Bergamo.

The location is okay if you want to get in and out of town quickly and fill up your tank across the street. Otherwise, you have to make some compromises. The furnishings are basic and outdated, especially the bathrooms. It's far from a 3-star hotel! What wasn't okay: the air conditioning didn't work when it was 30 degrees Celsius outside. We got the impression that this was already known, but the staff didn't care. We had to put a lot of pressure on them to get a different room, which had been refused several times before, with the fabricated excuse that they were fully booked.

A great hotel about 15 minutes from Bergamo's main attractions. Beautiful rooms in a classic style, with a great bathroom with a bathtub. Delicious, hearty breakfasts are served in the morning – you'll find something sweet and savory! Very polite and friendly staff. Free luggage storage. I was also delighted to receive a small gift for the New Year! :) I'd love to come back!

A mixed experience: while the hotel's common areas are elegant, the rooms are somewhat dated and the amenities are poorly maintained (air conditioning and ceiling fan not working, shutters jammed, tiles chipped, and a bathtub without a splash guard). Well located for quick access to the motorway, with a petrol station and parking nearby.

Very welcoming staff, close to public transport. The breakfast buffet was very good.
