Starr Gate / St Annes Sand Dunes

The sand dunes between Starr Gate — the southern end of Blackpool's promenade — and St Annes are the area's best-known outdoor gay cruising ground, referenced across cruising guides for years. The scene concentrates in the dunes off Clifton Drive North, with a car park and toilets nearby, and is busiest in summer and after the pubs and clubs close. A few sensible notes: this is a public beach and nature area used by walkers, families and dog-owners by day, so any activity is discreet and after-dark by nature, and police discourage cruising and nude sunbathing here. Stick to areas you can leave easily, keep valuables on you, go with or tell a friend, bring a light for the unlit paths, and always take no for an answer. Same-sex activity is fully legal in the UK, but respect the space and the people around you.
