Know the law before you go. Public sexual activity is illegal almost everywhere, and in some countries same-sex activity itself is criminalized. Every GayOut city page states the legal situation up front — in higher-risk destinations we deliberately don't publish meeting places at all, because doing so could endanger people.

Daylight rules of thumb. Go with charged phone and shared location if you can, keep valuables minimal, and trust your instincts — if a spot feels off or too empty, leave. Established areas near busy parks and beaches are generally safer than isolated ones.

Consent and discretion. A clear "no" or simply walking away is always respected etiquette. Don't photograph anyone, and remember locals may not be out — discretion protects everyone.
