London has a reasonable sauna scene. Most of the venues are in central London or Vauxhall, open most of the day, and busiest mid-afternoon on weekdays and throughout the weekend. The closure of several well-known London saunas over the past decade has thinned the options compared to cities like Amsterdam or Berlin, but what remains is well-run and busy.

The saunas

    What to expect

Standard facilities across most London saunas: wet room, steam room, dry sauna, lockers, and sometimes a small gym. Entry typically runs £12–18. Some have cafe areas or small bars. Most charge separately for lockers and cabins — cabins (a private room with a bed) cost more. Towels are usually included or available to hire.

    When to go

Midweek afternoons are when you will find the most relaxed crowd. Think Tuesday or Wednesday from 2pm — these are the sessions when regulars show up without the weekend tourist rush. Weekends are busier and younger — more of a social scene. Saturday evenings especially so.

    Tips

    • Bring a padlock if you care about your locker. Most venues provide them but some do not.
    • Most venues rent towels but it is cleaner to bring your own if you are particular about that sort of thing.
    • Check venue websites for any specific nights or events — some run themed evenings (bear nights, leather nights, etc.) that significantly change the crowd.
    • Several London saunas are members of GMFA or similar health organisations and carry sexual health information and supplies on site.
