Hotel Boutique Castillo Rojo

Febauary-2026 - We spent three nights at this wonderful boutique hotel and had an absolutely first-class experience from start to finish. Housed in what was once the aristocratic Lehuedé family’s private residence—later becoming a gathering place for artists and intellectuals—the hotel has been meticulously restored, preserving its elegant 1920s architecture while offering modern comfort. The location was ideal—within easy walking distance of excellent restaurants, the Funicular at Cerro San Cristóbal, and the charming Bellavista district. From the moment we arrived, we were treated to truly personalized service. The staff consistently offered thoughtful recommendations and valuable local insights, making it easy to explore and enjoy the area. Every detail of our stay felt curated and intentional. The accommodations were exceptional—elegant, comfortable, and immaculately maintained. Our room, a Classic Queen with private bath, was spacious and inviting, with large windows overlooking a peaceful courtyard and allowing in fresh morning breezes. One of the highlights of our stay was the complimentary evening wine service in the beautifully appointed second-floor parlor. Overlooking Plaza Camilo Mori, we enjoyed a lively and authentic local scene—one evening even joining in as young locals gathered to dance, creating a warm and memorable atmosphere. The hotel also made logistics effortless, assisting with transportation, Ubers, and private transfers, as well as excellent dining recommendations. Each morning, we were treated to a delicious full-service breakfast featuring fresh-baked breads and pastries—truly a perfect way to start the day. This hotel delivers not only comfort and style, but a genuine sense of place and history. An unforgettable stay—we would return without hesitation.

This is the best place to stay in Santiago. Great location not far from the airport. Very close to the Funicular. Bella Vista great for food. The garden is a wonderful retreat from the city. Keep an eye out for humming birds. The Room was very comfortable & breakfast was enjoyable. Most of all cant song the praises of the team working here. Super friendly. Will be back!

A true oasis in the heart of Santiago. Felt incredibly safe, the staff were helpful and attentive, and the breakfast was delicious. A really lovely touch to have a welcome drink and a great opportunity to meet other guests. Slept beautifully and felt very relaxed throughout our stay.

This little gem is located in a quiet oasis 30 minutes from the airport. There are nice restaurants within walking distance, and the rooms are comfortable and well appointed. The real reason I'm writing this post is to compliment the staff, who were charming, friendly, and extremely accommodating. In my experince, people make the place.

Located in the Bella Vista neighborhood, the Hotel Boutique Castillo Rojo (HBCR) stands out with its high ivy covered walls and architecture. This was a splurge for our family of 4 as the rate ran us about $275 per night excluding VAT tax b/c we were tourists paying in US currency. From the moment we stepped out the Uber, the team here promptly greeted us and assisted us with our luggage. Miguel and Claudio explained everything to us and walked us to our room (#27). The rich dark woods and use of fine quality materials are all around you as you explore the grounds here. Our room was comfortable and had many neat design touches. Slight dings for the room due to the bathroom as the shower was very, very slow to drain. The wall by the shower too is in need of repair with the moisture having contributed to its peeling and declining visual appeal. The rest of the room was great though. Super cold a/c, fridge, personal safe and hangers for clothing were all appreciated. The welcome drink coupons that can be used during evening hours was delightful. Bartender Carlos was quick with a smile and made our sons each an alcohol free mojito while we had a glass of wine. Breakfast in the morning was simple and tasty. The team did a great job keeping everything stocked and the service flowing smoothly. One thing to be aware of though is the celebration/party room here that is rented out for functions. The first night we stayed, there was a birthday party that ran well until midnight. We could hear the rowdy crowd and thudding bass which made it hard to get to bed and fall asleep. Miguel and Claudio did give us a heads up which we appreciated. The second night we heard various groups of young men getting rowdy outside the HBCR. Solid location with access to San Cristobal Hill nearby and tons of restaurants and bars. Do pay particular attention though as the barbed wire and keycard access only gates let you know the area can get rowdy. Even our Uber drivers warned us about drinks being spiked and mugging occurring in the area late at night. Overall though, we enjoyed the HBCR stay and the wonderful team here!

This was our first time in Santiago and we had a lovely 4 night stay at Boutique Hotel Castillo Rojo. All online photos are accurate. The location was convenient to walk to the neighborhoods and sights we were interested in visiting and for being picked up by tours. Breakfast was the same every day, but tasty - scrambled eggs with the options of bacon, tomato and onion; bread/pastries; ham and cheese and fruit. There are an array of teas, coffee, juices and yogurt. One morning, we had an early tour and they offered a boxed breakfast. This left something to be desired, but the sentiment was greatly appreciated. Maybe an option to select which items one would like in the boxed meal would be helpful. The hair dryer is quite good - a real one, not wall mounted. The staff is helpful and polite. We arrived hours before check-in and they stowed and then brought our bags to our room so they were ready for us when we returned, which was so helpful given there is not an elevator. No one mentioned housekeeping needed to be requested, so we missed it the first day. We later discovered a note in a folder in the room to this effect. You get one free sparkling and still water the first day, none after that, but there is water available in the lobby. You also get a free glass of wine and we received a free bottle of Unduragga sparkling rose. The air-conditioning was exceptional. The blackout shade did just that and despite being an older building, noise from the (loud) street was minimal. This was a great stay and I would happily spend another 4 nights there. We only wish we had more time to enjoy the hotel and the shaded, peaceful courtyard.

A very beautiful and comfortable place for weddings. You can hold your ceremony in the garden, which has plenty of shade. I highly recommend this venue and its owner, La Familia Gastronomía.

Lovely hotel where we were lucky with a room upgrade. Good bed and aircon. Excellent location. Lovely wine hour, where you can drink some free wine every day at 5-6pm. Cosy and lovely enclosed courtyard where you can enjoy your breakfast.

A very cute hotel, practically a castle. Delicious breakfast, in an area full of art, culture, and amazing bars.
