The Secret Garden Hostel Quito

One of my favorite places in Quito!! Spectacular food and atmosphere!!

Great hostel, friendly people, safe, comfortable rooms (mine had a private bathroom), highly recommended! For dinner, there's the option of the restaurant on the terrace or they have great communal dinners!

Before joining the Cotopaxi tour for two nights with Secret Garden, I sent a request asking specifically for a Cotopaxi tour. They confirmed yes—they had a tour to Cotopaxi for two nights, matching my request. Although the hostel was very nice and the team was kind, the food was only okay. The main issue was the tour inclusions and communication. I filled out the form stating that I don’t eat certain foods, and I expected this to be respected, but no one seemed to take it into account. The “included tour” was only one short walk on the day of arrival, and a nice hike on the second day. I later realized that Cotopaxi National Park is about 1 hour and 30 minutes from the hostel. That means the trip requires an additional day trip and extra money to pay for transportation and logistics that were not clearly communicated. I also submitted a complaint to the company, but I received no support. If I had known the details beforehand, I would have used that money and time for another destination in Ecuador—or for a real Cotopaxi tour instead

Great hostel - very social environment, nice clean rooms, drinkable water everywhere and a lot of stairs!

Nice place, the music is good, but sometimes they play reggaeton. It's not bad, but I feel like it's not the right kind of music for this more chill atmosphere. They should always play house, jazz, etc. That kind of music really fits.

Very nice place. My husband and I went for lunch; the food was delicious and the service was excellent. I loved the view—it's spectacular. The cocktails are great. I haven't stayed there, but the hostel looks very nice and clean. The restaurant is open from breakfast until 10 pm. Highly recommended. We'll definitely be back.
