The Parkside Hotel & Spa

We originally had a room booked for this weekend but apon reading the reviews I realized the Hotel has No Climate Control in the rooms except for fans. Please change on your site that rooms have NO A/C to avoid this problem for future bookings. The belief is once you experience a Heat Dome you will get them again, Look at Europe they are getting there third Heat Dome this year, Victoria BC June 2021 Heat Dome hit +40C or 104F.

Pros: The front desk staff were lovely and super accommodating. The lobby is beautiful and the koi pond was a HUGE hit with our kids. I loved that they had 2 fish feedings a day and let the kids participate. The pool was just OK but my kids did love it. The location is really convenient. It was easy for us to walk into town for food or excursions. Cons: Parkside advertises an in-room washer/dryer unit; however, it’s an all in one unit and can only handle SUPER small loads. If you’re traveling with a family- this makes it very difficult to actually do laundry. More importantly- the dryer really doesn’t work. I had to run a few items through multiple times (for a few hours total!) and items were still damp. When I mentioned this to the staff- they stated that the dryer was working as intended but stick to small loads. I only had one child’s shirt and one pair of kid’s shorts in there so I don’t think that’s the issue. The other thing about the dryer is it gets VERY hot. We had chocolate on the counter top above it and it completely melted. They need to put a sign up warning guests of the extreme heat. Additionally, we got a room with a non-functioning fridge. Didn’t realize it until after we added groceries and everything spoiled. Staff quickly replaced the fridge and credited us for the lost items. I also wasn’t super impressed with housekeeping. The floors hadn’t been properly cleaned and they left their dirty dust rags on the nightstands. Overall: a good, not great, experience.

Whoever came up with the idea of having kids feed the Koi deserves a medal. It was a great incentive to get them out the door on time. Great location, love the eco friendly vibe. It desperately needs more food options.

Super new and well-equipped structure, including a washing machine. Highly recommended spa.

We ALWAYS stay at the Parkside when we come to Victoria! And today I appreciated just how thorough and attentive they are! Almost a month ago we had left behind our large stainless steel salad bowl and thought it was lost for sure. But my sister popped by today and sure enough it was there in their lost and found! Thankyou Parkside!! My sister has been reunited with her favourite bowl❤️

Girls trip was fantastic, weather perfect, the team helped make our trip special and unforgettable. ❤️

Best location! Nice pool and cozy lobby with bike rental options. We had 1 bdr suite, and the washroom doors were flimsy. Also, there were no laundry detergent pads, so keep it in mind. Overall, great experience and our preferred option from now on
