We stayed for two nights and three days at this location. The location in itself was amazing but we had issues with AC in the room. The temperature remained at 77° and was very hot throughout the night. We called in at the front desk at the middle of the night, we did have a visit from one of their staffs, at 12:30 at night but couldn’t figured out the AC situation. We left the bathroom window open and tried our best to lower the room temperature. AC was set to 61° but overall temperature of the room didn’t drop lower than 76° all night. In addition our room got cleaned next day but coffee cups and coffee pods were not available for the second morning of the stay. Before we checked out, we let the front desk staff know about all those issues but haven’t heard anything back. Great location for stay but AC is not working, room amenities not being restocked/available, and not hearing from the management team after providing feedback, I would have to rethink before I recommend someone to stay here.

Great service and the staff were very accommodating. Great room space with good coffee. It did however had a loud AC unit that made it difficult to sleep.

My husband and I planned a rare weekend away and chose Carmel Beach Hotel because it looked lovely. It was - the property is charming, rooms are nicely renovated, 1 min walk to the beach, you wake up to the sound of the waves. The quaint little bar and utterly charming bartender Lucy were wonderful. She took care of us, busing snacks out, making drinks that looked like art, and genuinely friendly. However, the front of house staff acted like we were a gross inconvenience to them. Valerie and her colleague who was front of house on Sat Mar 21 were unhelpful, dismissive and need a course correction if they have any intention of staying in hospitality. As it stands, Lucy should be running the place. We would only come back if we read reviews that this had been fixed.

This is a 2-star property at best, definitely not a boutique hotel in any sense of the word. It's marketing some limited ocean views and Carmel location to justify its overpriced room rates. Don't believe what you see on its website, a lot of it is misleading or outright untrue. There were so many things not working or unavailable it's hard to believe. Windows, door locks, thermostats, no coffee, lobby bar not open, a complete joke at these prices. Everything about the place screams financial distress. I've worked in hotels before, I'd never recommend this place to anyone. There are so many better options in Carmel and its surrounding areas.

Gosh. We balled out and booked a nice room for a celebratory weekend. The day before the trip I got food poisoning and was in bad shape. My husband called to see if we could possibly move it to another weekend (they said no) and asked what refund would be offered if we cancelled (they said 50%) They asked if he wanted to cancel - he said NO DO NOT CANCEL and that we would try to work something out with Hotels.com Flash forward, we make the drive to Carmel (me horizontal in the back seat because #deathbed) and find out THEY CANCELLED OUR RESERVATION AND HAD ALREADY REBOOKED IT. IN LESS THAN 24 HOURS. It was, as you might imagine, very upsetting. The front desk chick is talking to her manager. We say we'd like to talk to the manager to get this sorted. The front desk chick hands us a card with her email- WUTTT?? No we want to SPEAK to the manager. Now. Front desk chick says sorry she's driving and can't talk until later (spoiler the manager NEVER spoke to us.) Front desk chick starts calling around to other hotels. She says one nearby has a room for us. We head there - NO ROOMS AVAILABLE. We call front desk chick who says "oh well that was 34 minutes ago." You didn't ask them to hold a room for us?????? Wow I think I got a second round of food poisoning having to digest this awful experience and horrid customer service. 2 stars because I had stayed here previously with my sister and had a good time.

Updated review after our stay: We stayed at Carmel Beach Hotel in a Deluxe Ocean View King room during the off-season in February. Overall, it was a pleasant stay, though the value didn’t quite match the price. On the positive side, the hotel is extremely clean, and our specific room offered as much privacy and quiet as you can probably get in Carmel. We really appreciated the nightly turndown service with cookies, a nice touch that feels increasingly rare. Housekeeping came automatically without needing to request it, which was refreshing compared to many hotels these days. Free on-site parking made things easy, and the location is excellent, just one block from the beach. The staff was also consistently kind and welcoming. The biggest downside is the value. While expensive pricing is expected in a town like Carmel, what you get for the cost feels a bit underwhelming. The room itself was fairly bare-bones, and ours had a noticeable stuffy smell, so we kept the windows and door open as much as possible. Additionally, the on-site bar was closed on weekdays, and the hotel shuttle is not available during the off-season, which limited some of the amenities we were hoping to use. Overall, Carmel Beach Hotel offers a clean, quiet stay in a great location, but for the price point, there are a few missing touches that prevent it from feeling like a true "relaxed luxury" experience. ----- I called the hotel late last night because I was trying to understand the different rooms and Rafi was amazing! He spoke to me for 20 minutes, answered my thousands of questions, and gave us some great suggestions while we’re in town. My conversation with Rafi led to me booking our room. If that’s the level of customer service they offer over the phone, I’m looking forward to experiencing the hotel!

Carmel Beach Hotel was the perfect choice for our stay and our first time in the area. The location could not have been better since it was just steps from the beautiful beach, and the entire property felt like a charming, quaint bed and breakfast. The staff was incredibly kind, and during the slower weekdays they were especially attentive. They went out of their way to make my friends feel welcome and even took care of a few maintenance issues right away, which we truly appreciated. One of our favorite parts of the stay was the creative mocktails prepared by different staff members every day. Each one was delicious, refreshing, and thoughtfully made. There was always popcorn with amazing spices available, plus infused water set out throughout the day. We loved meeting in the lobby to snack on popcorn, sip a mocktail, and relax in the cozy atmosphere. They also delivered fresh cookies to the room daily, which was such a sweet and thoughtful touch. You can see the beach from the property, which made the experience even more special. The beach itself was incredible whether it was a windy, cold afternoon or a bright, sunny morning. You can walk along the sand to the right or enjoy a beautiful boardwalk stroll to the left, and both were equally peaceful. The hotel also offered room service, and I tried the steel cut oats, the breakfast potatoes, and the grapefruit juice, all of which were great. My friend ordered the avocado toast and mentioned that the bread was pretty thick. The breakfast area was charming with a cozy fireplace that made mornings feel extra inviting. One very convenient perk was the hotel’s complimentary rides into town. They pick up and drop off until 9 PM, which made it easy to explore. The town itself is only about five minutes away by car, although the shops and restaurants do close early during the week. Monterey and Big Sur were also a short drive away, and we loved exploring both areas during our trip. This was our first time in NorCal, and it was truly unforgettable. Our experience at Carmel Beach Hotel played a huge part in that, and we would absolutely stay here again.

After a great weekend we have been let down by missing packages :(. We had communicated with the staff the significance of these packages and were told they would be forwarded to us at our homes, unfortunately this never happened. After staff denied having a PO Box for the hotel we have no other option but to leave a review stating our frustration. Attached is the photo evidence of packages being delivered. Sorry it came to this point.
