Absolutely stunning. Room 8 is so pleasant. Bright. Comfy. View of ocean and great courtyard to sit and relax in while listening to waves. Amazing staff. Beautiful grounds. Highly recommend.
Every staff member was amazing during our whole three day stay! Cute rooms, lovely grounds, steps away from the Pacific Ocean, and walking distance (thru a lovely neihborhood) to Carmel-by-the-Sea. Will definitely stay again!!
By far the best place we have ever stayed at. 5 stars are not enough. Can not wait to come back
The room is not worth the price, the service is even worse. The location is amazing but this hotel could be so much better.
I have mixed opinions about this place. We had reservations at another hotel in Carmel that had to bump us and they put us here instead. The positives about the hotel are its location so close to the beach, and far enough from downtown Carmel to really offer a quiet environment, but that’s about it. Check-in was fine, the exterior is beautiful and there is room for self parking. Our “upgraded” room was a hobbit hole right in front of the driveway on the main level. With shades down for privacy, there was barely any light or enjoyment of the “ocean view”. The rooms themselves are bare bones but clean, and the bed is comfortable. Service left a lot to be desired. Most staff come across as bothered when approached. We had to intentionally ask for the room to be cleaned and towels refreshed every afternoon. I felt dumb asking if that’s not part of their daily routine but got no answer. The largest downside is that the value is not there for what is offered. You are paying a premium for location and a 2 star hotel experience.
First time at the hotel. Stayed in room 10 back side of hotel with courtyardgarden view. Look at the pictures for a property map. A few clarifications. First, the on-site restaurant closed two years ago. Don't know why. Second, breakfast is available, see pictures for the prices and selection. The bar offers a free drink, wine, juice, or champagne/mimosa, and tasty snacks during happy hour. Bar open until 9 pm. Room was in excellent condition. Hotel recently remodeled. Wife loved the teapot, but it needs teabags. She brings some everywhere, most people don't. There's is a safe for possessions in room and breakfast menus in room if you wish to buy breakfast with room service. Gas log fireplace. Free water in usable fridge, juice on arrival waiting in room. Excellent cookies at turndown. There is a gym and also spa services with a spa service menu and prices in the room. Nice robes in room and plenty of towels. The towels are sheet style towels, very plush. Bicycles are available on site. Comfortable bed. Handheld shower head along with traditional shower head. Hot water when needed. Dogs allowed in some rooms for a fee. Quiet. No pool, but the ocean and beach are one very short block away. Nice views of ocean in front from many rooms, nice garden courtyards in back, ocean views from many areas walking the property. Negatives: Low water pressure, probably due to water flow restrictors. Dog fees are excessive at $250.00 per pet. No teabags although there's a teapot in the room as well as an expresso maker. Cups, glasses, spoons, and coffee supplies are there, but no powdered coffee creamers. Coffee maker is a Nespresso expresso machine with small expresso sized pods and small espresso sized servings. TV remote is very difficult to use due to unusual black on black buttons and toggle keys, no markings, no instructions. Lamp controls are unnecessarily complicated, but once you figure them out, they are actually old fashioned knobs. Parking front and back is a few cars short of the needed spaces, but there is street parking in back of the hotel and in the general area. Thermostat seemed complicated, but it was the first time using that type.
