Overall, we had a wonderful stay and the staff was friendly and welcoming. The location was beautiful, and we really enjoyed our time here. There were just two areas where the experience could be improved. First, parking was occasionally difficult, as the lot filled up at times and it wasn’t always easy to find a space. Second, when we checked in, we mentioned that we were celebrating our honeymoon and asked if it would be possible to have a quieter, more tucked-away room if one was available. Instead, our room was located on a middle floor with neighboring rooms on both sides, and we experienced quite a bit of noise from a family with young children in the room next to or above us. We completely understand that families travel too, but since we had shared that we were on our honeymoon and specifically requested a quieter location, we were a bit disappointed that our room placement didn’t reflect that request. Despite these minor issues, we still had a lovely stay and would gladly recommend the hotel. With a little more attention to special occasion requests and parking availability, the experience would have been exceptional.

Walk to everything in Carmel, and have a spot to park! Cute rooms with fireplace. 1/2 block off of Ocean Avenue. Great afternoon wine/snack reception including a freshly baked cake each day. Breakfast includes wonderfully fresh fruit as well as a hot option. Excellent base for a weekend in Carmel!

We paid around $450/night for what was supposed to be a special weekend in Carmel, and unfortunately our first night was one of the worst hotel experiences we've had. When we arrived Friday evening, we were given a ground-floor room with virtually no privacy. Cars parked only a few feet from the window, making it feel more like a motel than an upscale inn. While that wasn't ideal, the real problem was the noise. We could hear every footstep, movement, and sound from the room above us. Within minutes of entering the room, we went back to the front desk and asked if we could move because it was that loud. We were told the hotel was fully booked and no other rooms were available. The guests above us were up late, and between the noise and the extremely uncomfortable mattress, we barely slept. The bed was so hard that we could feel the springs, and I ended up ordering a mattress topper just to make it tolerable. At one point around 3:30 a.m., I seriously considered sleeping in our car because I thought I might get a better night's rest there. We were awake for most of the night and only managed a few hours of sleep before morning. Because we were exhausted, we lost a significant portion of the next day recovering instead of enjoying our time in Carmel. To the hotel's credit, they moved us to a top-floor room for our second night, and the difference was dramatic. The room was quieter, more private, and the mattress was noticeably more comfortable. We slept well and had a much better experience. Based on our stay, room location makes an enormous difference at this property. The top-floor room was enjoyable, but the first-floor room was not worth anywhere near the price we paid. For $450 per night, I don't think guests should have to worry about hearing every sound from the room above them or whether they'll be able to get a decent night's sleep. If you stay here, I would strongly recommend requesting a top-floor room. Otherwise, be aware that noise and room quality may vary significantly.

We had a very nice stay. The staff, rooms, happy hour and breakfast are all top notch. Great location as well. I would recommend a 3rd floor room or #210-212 as the noise transfer from upper rooms was noticeable all night…

Amazing location for a car-free stay in downtown Carmel-by-the-Sea. We loved everything about the room except for a few slight issues which they promptly refunded us for. The front desk was kind and helpful and the daily snacks were appreciated. Cozy and comfortable overall!
