Had a very successful and efficient visit. Heather in particular was incredibly accommodating and very personable, both of which made my first visit to a new clinic so much easier!

Title: Continuity of Care Failure and Institutional DARVO Negligence I am writing this review to publicly document a severe administrative failure and the toxic communication practices at this health center's Clark Street location. As an AuDHD patient, I have been left entirely without access to my daily prescribed psychiatric medication for weeks because this facility failed to coordinate cross-coverage during a provider's leave. When escalated, the clinic responded with textbook institutional DARVO (Deny, Attack, and Reverse Victim and Offender) to dodge accountability for patient abandonment. The documented chronology of events exposes this framework: The Denial: On April 27, 2026, the clinic called to cancel my upcoming May 4 follow-up evaluation because my practitioner was going on leave. They failed to coordinate a cross-covering provider, completely denying me a safety net. The Paper Trail: I requested renewals via the patient portal on May 11, 2026. Based on my previous bottle, my 30-day depletion date was May 14. I proactively requested my refill three days before running out, and one day prior to my legal early-fill eligibility date (May 12). The clinic left these as unsigned orders, manually overrode them to a "Refused" status on May 14, and then botched an emergency visit on May 15 by scheduling me with a practitioner who lacked the legal DEA credentials to prescribe controlled substances. The Attack & Reversal (DARVO): On May 19, 2026, after days of leaving me in active medical withdrawal, a representative text-messaged my personal cell phone from a clinic line. Instead of resolving their scheduling and signing errors, they used weaponized victim-blaming, stating it is "always advice to call at least a week before" so I wouldn't be in "today's predicament." This is a blatant attempt to attack my character and reverse the roles of victim and offender to hide their own systemic failure. They concluded by delaying an emergency decision until "the end of the week." My physical prescription bottle proves my medication was authorized by an active Medical Doctor (MD) within their own broader network. Claiming "no providers are available" to sign an existing order while network physicians exist is a management failure. I have filed formal complaints with the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) and the federal Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) for patient abandonment and retaliatory communication.

I’m not sure who’s answering calls this morning, but they were very reluctant to schedule an appointment. We need to work on that as soon as possible this area and Howard Brown deserves better.

I’ve had consistently great experiences at Howard Brown Health. The providers and staff are kind, professional, and truly care about their patients. They take a holistic approach and work with you to create individualized plans that address medical, mental health, and social needs. I’ve used several services over the years and have never been disappointed. Most recently, my doctor helped me address a serious substance dependency issue with compassion and respect, allowing me to advocate for myself while guiding me through treatment. Because of that care, I am now 100% sober. Highly recommend to anyone seeking inclusive, high-quality care.

Dr was passive aggressive when it turns out i was misinformed about when to get my nexplanon changed. just cut me off mid sentence and made it seem like i was an inconvenience. Medical assistant and receptionist were amazing! They need a more empathetic provider especially with the populations they serve. UPDATE: Stay away from this place, I got this procedure back in 2023 which I have been battling with this clinic since. BCBS followed up with me stating I owe $0, but this clinic continue to try to bill me $1,400. I will not be paying this and no one else should if you receive a bill months or YEARS LATER from this place if you had insurance.
