This hotel is fair. The price is affordable. This hotel offers shuttle service, and the local bus is right in front of the hotel.
I loved this budget friendly hotel, desk ppl were friendly, it's clean, breakfast was soo good, I and the bed was very comfy, No complaints for me.
Downright horrible experience. The hotel is dirty, run-down and the room had the foulest smell. The bathroom was dirty and had hair and stains everywhere. The reception staff were nice and courteous but apart from that, there was nothing else right about this property. The elevator was out of order for the two days I stayed there as well.
Anybody giving this a low rating simply must have unrealistic expectations for cost vs. what you get in return. All the 1 stars sound like personal gripes rather than objective review of the stay. If you're looking for room service, a pool, a hot tub, and a massage from the front desk, go pay $400/night to stay right downtown. Everything about this place was great. Yvette at the front desk was beyond accommodating. Bed was cozy. Complimentary breakfast. Free parking (how many hotels do you know do that?). Held my bags for me behind the front desk after I checked out. Fridge and microwave right in my room. Hot shower. Quick $10-15 Uber downtown.
Room had terrible smell
During my stay at the Comfort Inn Detriot Downtown the barn door was not properly attached to the hinges and fell, striking me on the back. I reported this to the hotel staff, who reattached the door and informed me that I should contact priceline regarding compensation, as they were unable to comp one of my nights, which they offered, due to my third party booking. I was told Priceline would have to call them, the hotel, and the hotel would intiate the comp at that point. I made sure to confirm that my account was properly notated. When I reached out to priceline on Monday 5/11, they had difficulty getting in contact someone from the hotel and the issue was escalated. They said they would keep trying and would call me back. I had not heard anything by Thursday so I called the hotel to see if anyone had been in contact and they told me a manager would be in tomorrow, Friday. I then called priceline to see if there was an update. Got transferred to a supervisor who said there was no update. They called the hotel as well and were told the same thing. So they said they would email the manager and set up a callback to the hotel for the next day. On Friday, I spoke to priceline again they still had not heard back so they called the hotel. They said the hotel wanted me to call. When I called the hotel and spoke with Evette, she told me they would not be able to comp one of my nights and had I checked out at the time of the incident then they would have refunded me but since I didn't they could not comp anything. I told them no one made me aware of this and we were also traveling from out of town, on top of that most hotels in area were sold out, checking out was not an option. I reiterated that A WHOLE DOOR fell on me and a comped night was offered by their staff. She said they couldn't do it and then said all she could do is offer a discount for my next stay. I stated that wasn't practical as I live in Wisconsin. She said well that's all she could do. I called priceline back and they tried to request what was originally offered on my behalf and again all that was offered was 20% off my next stay. Then priceline said there was nothing they could do either because the money had already been transferred to the hotel. This is truly ridiculous as I'm not just complaining about the elevator being down during our stay I'm trying to get a night comped as promised due to A DOOR FALLING ON ME IN YOUR HOTEL. This lack of accountability is appalling. Why would anyone want to stay here and/or come back? The only good thing about our stay was Rich, the shuttle driver. Also, Tyra. Reply 5/18: I did reach out directly to the hotel and spoke with Evette, who apparently is with management on 5/15, and was told that they would not honor comping a night of my stay. All that could be offered was a hefty discount on a future stay which is not practical seeing as I live in Wisconsin. Priceline also reached out and spoke to her and she told them she could offer 20% off my next stay but could not comp/refund my stay or even a night as promised. This is absolutely appalling and again I'm not complaining about something trivial A DOOR FELL ON ME and it appears your hotel doesn't want to show any empathy or accountability for this. I guess my next step will be reaching out to a lawyer.
