Bar Townhouse

This is NYC, having a dress code is highly unnecessary and limits patrons from attending. No one is going to plan their entire night around this one bar. Get rid of the ridiculous dress code, it’s 2026.

Fantastic spot for a night out. Great crowd, drinks and entertainment. A New York staple.

I don't understand those who write bad reviews for this place. Honestly, I am grateful to the owners and everyone who makes it happen. This place is warm and authentic in New York. Do not expect to see any variant of the A.I. generated man on the website, or anywhere near a sentiment of the warmth, vitality, and masculinity that the establishment is desperate to exude. I was cut off here after 1 drink by a bartender who has since been let go, presumably because of the numerous other complaints about him. After returning, since I am (was) a regular here the “manager” David, a man with a man bun and glasses, told me immediately I would not be served and to “meet him outside.” I did, reluctantly, due to the intimidating and coercive nature of the comment… once outside he gave no reasoning and he gave no reasoning whatsoever. No explanation of policy, no claim of intoxication or misconduct—just a flat refusal and an instruction to leave, and I was told there is no email to contact, and he walked away ignoring my follow ups. This same waiter, David, was serving me when a significantly older man was buying me drinks to a point where I was unable to walk out of the bar, but was somehow not cut off. This review is an elaboration on my prior one, which was never acknowledged or responded to. Given the situation, the refusal to provide any explanation, and the absence of any channel for follow-up or accountability, I have no confidence in how this establishment treats its patrons. I won’t be returning, and am considering taking this to the regrettably implied legal channels.

Visited for the first time yesterday and the night started out great. Went during happy hour and had a WONDERFUL TIME. Shout of to both bartenders in the back and the one with shorter hair in the front. Night quickly turned sour due to the bartender with the long hair. He was extremely rude to me for no reason, and denied having my phone when he was charging it. He was most toxic employee I’ve ever encountered in my entire life. He was a disaster. Extremely unprofessional - would never recommend this place while he is working. entitled and lacking in any means of substance. Should find a new job not talking to the public. NYC Nightlife deserves better than a bitter queen who adds nothing. Find another line of work.

From the minute you walk in the staff is super attentive, and you’re made to feel at home. Food is excellent. Wine selection is excellent. This is a consistent and reliable go-to for a lovely dinner.
