I’ve been coming to this place regularly for about 5 years, and until recently, I never had any serious issues. The venue used to be lively, welcoming, and worth coming back to. However, over the past month, everything has changed—and it is clearly tied to one specific security staff member at the entrance. Since this individual started working the door, the entire experience has gone downhill. Whenever he is there, problems start. Entry decisions suddenly become inconsistent and unpredictable. People are denied entry without any clear or reasonable explanation, and when questioned, the answers change or make no sense at all. In some cases, even valid out-of-state IDs are being rejected, which is completely unreasonable. This is not how the rest of the staff operates, which makes it obvious that the issue is centered around one person. The way people are being treated at the door feels selective, inconsistent, and unprofessional. What’s even more concerning is that this has become a pattern. After reading other reviews, it’s clear many people are experiencing the same issue. This is not a one-time situation—it keeps happening. And it is directly affecting the business. Years ago, when we used to come in, the place would be packed with 60–70 people and had a real atmosphere. Now, you walk in and see maybe 10–15 people at most. The difference is obvious, and it’s not a coincidence. Management can run as many promotions as they want to try to bring people back, but it will not fix the real problem. As long as this same person is standing at the door creating issues, turning people away, and giving customers a bad first impression, those promotions will be useless. People don’t leave because of the music or the venue—they leave because of how they are treated before they even get inside. At this point, it’s clear that this situation is pushing customers away and damaging the reputation of the business. Loyal customers who have been coming here for years are now choosing to go elsewhere. Management needs to take immediate and serious action. Until the issue at the entrance is properly addressed, nothing inside the venue will matter, and this place will continue to lose customers.

The Sunday Funday block party was a vibe. Drinks were good and the service was fast and friendly.

This place needs to close down. It’s causing more harm than good.

This place has gone downhill in the worst way possible. We came as a group of 18 people, ready to spend money, and your security staff completely ruined the night. One of our friends was denied entry for absolutely no valid reason. When we asked why, they couldn’t even give an answer. After pushing them, they came up with a completely ridiculous excuse about not accepting a New York ID — which is beyond unprofessional and makes zero sense. At that point, it was obvious the decision wasn’t based on any real policy, just random and careless behavior from the people at the door. What’s even worse is that after reading the reviews, it’s clear this is a consistent problem. Same complaints over and over again about the same type of treatment. This isn’t bad luck — it’s how this place operates now. The club itself used to be packed and actually worth going to. Now it’s almost empty, and honestly, it’s not surprising at all. You can keep offering promotions and discounts, but none of that matters when your own staff is turning paying customers away for no reason. We left immediately and spent our money somewhere else — and that’s exactly what we’ll keep doing. There are plenty of better places in Philly that actually know how to treat customers. If you value your time, money, and respect, stay away from this place.

My friends and I used to be regulars here, tonight was our first time visiting since Summer 2025. Unfortunately, we really aren’t fans of the upstairs renovations, it’s way too bright and the now-open windows made us feel too much like we were on display. We also weren’t impressed with the DJ, the music felt very stale. Two stars vs one bc the bartenders were very nice and I appreciated the lower price drinks.

Security there is so weird. They try to watch girls in the bathrooms, they touch girls assess, and they think they dictate public sidewalks.

Not horrible but not great. Drink prices are premium with a generic bar feel. I checked this place out after people recommending it, I think that the 3 star (star level when writing this) is fair for the experience

Great establishment!

Lets be abundantly clear: Woody's is no longer a gay bar. They've catered to the straight crowd for long enough, its not our bar anymore. At most, its a mid straight bar with a pride flag up.
