The kitchen has never disappointed me. Very dependably good. The bar can get backed up, but I am sure their reasons are better than my level of patience. The only way for them to fix it is with a bar with another bartender..

Great food, great drinks. Fish tacos so fresh and delish. Flan for dessert was awesome.

The Shed is, ‘THE 10* Shed due to the warm atmosphere, efficient server (Hector…nice looking too), excellent NM entrees in an extremely vibrantly colorful ambiance serving generous portions.

We really enjoyed the atmosphere of this restaurant and had a very good lunch. The staff is efficient and attentive. It's just steps from the plaza. And the prices are good.

The Shed lives up to its reputation. We started with guacamole and chips and then for dinner, I had the chicken enchilada plate and my wife the fish tacos. Fresh, flavorful, perfectly balanced. I had mine smothered with green chili. So good!

We went for lunch on a Monday, was crazy busy by 1130am. We put our name in and waited on a shady bench for 20 mins. Larger parties of 4 or more had to wait 40 mins. Tables started emptying out at 1pm, so go for late lunch if you can. They take your cell number and text you when the table is ready. It was much cooler inside than on the patio. Casual dining, classic Santa Fe menu, Mocktails avail on the long drink list. The Red sauce was spicier than the green. Tried the Lemon Souffle, which was fine for Souffle but not exciting. Would go again for the Chicken Enchiladas on Blue Corn Tortillas.

If you haven’t been to The Shed, congratulations on successfully avoiding one of Santa Fe’s most beloved forms of delicious peer pressure. This place has been turning “I’ll just swing by for a quick bite” into “why is there a waitlist longer than my attention span” for decades, and somehow it still feels completely worth it. The location is pure Santa Fe magic—right in the thick of it, so you can people-watch, adobe-spot, and feel cultured while your stomach loudly reminds you why you came. The decor is cool in that classic, lived-in, “we’ve been doing this longer than you’ve been alive” way. It’s cozy without trying too hard, colorful without screaming for attention, and just quirky enough that you start inventing backstories for the random art and artifacts on the walls. Staff are genuinely helpful. Not the “forced smile while they calculate your tip percentage” kind of helpful—the real kind. The sort who will steer you toward the right chile heat level, laugh at your indecision, and somehow make you feel like a regular even if you’re clearly just another tourist who wandered in looking slightly overwhelmed. And the food? Really great. The kind of great that makes you quietly resent every mediocre meal you’ve ever had elsewhere. Proper New Mexican flavors that hit hard in the best way, portions that respect your appetite, and that perfect balance of “this is traditional” and “this is still exciting.” You’ll leave full, happy, and already planning your next visit while pretending you’re not. Yes, there’s a waitlist. Yes, it’s usually worth it. Think of it as Santa Fe’s way of making sure you properly earn your blue corn enchiladas and red chile. Some things in life should require a little anticipation. Bottom line: The Shed is a must-stop. Skip it and you’ll spend the rest of your trip hearing other people talk about how good it was. Don’t be that person.

I wanted to love The Shed given its reputation, but unfortunately it didn’t live up to the hype. The biggest disappointment wasn’t one thing—it was that neither the food nor the operation justified the long wait or the attitude surrounding it. We waited about 35 minutes while the restaurant never appeared completely full. There was additional patio space that could have accommodated more tables/guests, but it sat unused. The front door became a bottleneck because there was only one host. Every time he walked guests to a table, no one was left to greet new arrivals or manage the waitlist. Unfortunately, the host was also unfriendly and came across more like a nightclub bouncer than someone welcoming guests to a restaurant. Service at the table was adequate, but food runners repeatedly “auctioned” dishes by announcing them and asking who ordered what instead of knowing where each plate belonged. That’s something I might expect at a casual diner, not at a restaurant with this reputation, these prices, and these wait times. The food itself was the bigger letdown. I sampled the posole, a green chile tamale, and the classic and rolled enchiladas. Across the board, everything was adequately salted but lacked brightness and depth of flavor. The dishes needed acidity and balance. The posole was especially underwhelming, with large chunks of pork loin that felt more utilitarian than thoughtfully prepared. The blue corn tortillas in the enchiladas were hard rather than pleasantly tender. I don’t mind waiting for exceptional food. I don’t mind putting up with rough edges if the meal is memorable. But here, neither the service nor the food earned the reputation or the wait. If this had been a neighborhood restaurant with no line, I’d probably say it was perfectly acceptable. But as one of Santa Fe’s most talked-about dining destinations, I simply don’t understand the hype.

These might be the best cheese enchiladas I've ever had, and I loved the hominy in place of rice. What I didn't love was complimentary garlic bread instead of complimentary chips and salsa. Not that it wasn't good, but it felt off theme. They do have chips and various salsas to order, but for whatever reason, you get garlic bread with your tacos and enchiladas. 🤔 Regardless, it is all delicious, a little on the spicy side (a big plus for me) and had great service.

Pros: The service was great. Great vibe and has a huge sitting area inside and outside. They can do vegeterian dishes. Cons: I tried a chicken quesadilla and I did not like the way they had prepared the chicken. It lacked any flavors.

Okay, I love Santa Fe. We order delivery from them at least twice a month. They are our go to Mexican spot. I generally hate going out to restaurants because everything takes so long: wait to sit, wait to order, wait for food, wait for check, wait to pay…this review is about paying. I noticed our waiter was wearing Meta glasses. The restraunt (as most do now) has their staff use the handheld machines so they can take your card right at the table and cash you out. I watched the waiter turn his glasses camera on just before taking guests credit cards, look at the card, process the transaction, and then turn the camera off at least twice. Was he recording the card numbers!?! I was so sketched out, I left and went to an ATM and paid cash!

Great for the dishes proposed. Very tasty and tasty. Courteous staff. I recommend the chicken burrito. Recommended. Average prices for NY.

We had a terrible experience. My wife is allergic to peppers so I asked if we could have fajitas with just onions and they said they could not do that. The “manager" Theo said they do not have extra onions and cannot make us plain onions. ridiculous for a Mexican restaurant to say that. they were unwilling to accommodate. will not order again

We found Santa Fe by chance and were pleasantly surprised. Super service and good service to get served water and chips with salsa before the meal. We even got refill of chips and salsa. The food was delicious and authentic. Clearly recommended

A stone's throw from Central Park, this restaurant is rather friendly, with a courteous welcome and professional service. Excellent quality in terms of dishes (the Sliders were remarkable, the meat of extreme quality) and all for a... New York price! Expensive but therefore correct. Small downside: the eagerness to see you leave the table as soon as your fork has been put down (and again, one of us had not finished) with the tab being placed on the table.

Great spot, especially if you go to Lincoln center, or if you happened to be there or if you live there. Food is hearty, filling and feels like home made. Service is excellent , efficient and helpful without bothering. Very good spot!

Chose this restaurant while we went for a walk with our relatives in the neighborhood. We shared our fish tacos and loved the quality of the fish.

Food was okay, although the chips and salsa were plentiful and good! Service was very efficient and friendly. And overall price was very reasonable. For a quick bite, it's a good place to go.

We stopped in on a Wednesday night for dinner. We were able to get a table in the back dining room. The food took a little while, but it was pretty good. Our waiter was very friendly and the staff brought more salsa and water when we needed it.

We wanted to celebrate the Carnegie Hall debut of my soul mate Rain Worthington’s orchestra piece “Still Motion,” so we arranged a dinner for 45 colleagues, friends, and family at the Santa Fe Restaurant on West 71st Street. Alex Fresquez, the manager, was a pleasure to deal with. He supplied a set menu and set us up in the back room, where the warm southwestern vibe was perfect for the event. The food was delicious, the service seamless, the dinner a delight, the concert a thrill. Our guests complimented us on our fine choice.
