Hojalata Workshop with Artist Vaquero Azul

Saturday, 19 September 2026 · 12:30 – 14:00 Tacoma Public Library, Tacoma, United States

Sobre el evento

Join Vaquero Azul as we create Hojalata – Tin art! Each class will have 2 templates to trace and sharpies to color to customize your piece!
Vaquero Azul is a Mexican and Puerto Rican, Boriken-Taíno Illustrator and Sewist. Their work focuses on Trans Mexican Euforia and Mesoamerican joy. By weaving Charro & Folklorico culture and the theatrics of Queer Fantasy aesthetics into one they create visually stunning pieces capturing moments of sacred euforia.
Vaquero builds spaces of serenity and emotional vulnerability by honoring our past Trancestors through Ofrendas all year long. They create empowerment for LGBTQ2IA+ voices within their workshops and culturally relevant presentations. He believes in a world where Trans, Two-Spirit & Dos Espíritus people are celebrated, loved, and left feeling proud of who they are as expressed in their body of art.
Brought to you in partnership with the South End Neighborhood Council (SENCo) and facilitated by artist Vaquero Azul.
As supplies are limited, this workshop is available to the first 36 participants.
