Staying Here Together is a three-part series into what it means to be an active participant in community. We will sit with difficult questions: What do we ask of one another? What responsibilities emerge when we choose to belong? How might we move from consuming community to actively shaping and sustaining it together? This is not a workshop in conflict mediation, nor is it a space that promises answers or resolution. Instead, it is an invitation to practice staying with complexity. Together, we will explore what it takes to sustain the ecologies we inhabit, and deepen our understanding of how we love, disappoint, repair, and remain in relationship with one another. We begin by asking where we are now, what we are ready for, and what becomes possible from there. The series is structured around a set of guiding questions informed by writers and thinkers whose work explores community organising, self-accountability, mutual aid, abolition, and care. While these questions provide a working framework, the heart of the series lies in the experiences, reflections, and contributions of those in the room, recognising the collective as its most vital and resonant resource. This series is open to QTBIPOC+ organisers, artists, and anyone involved in collective life who wishes to explore the emotional and relational dimensions of community. A willingness to listen, contribute and learn alongside others is necessary.Facilitated by Kai Khidir Hassan, a visual artist, arts worker, and community organiser based in Glasgow. Their work is rooted in the belief that care is neither soft nor uncomplicated, but a rigorous, ongoing practice of staying with one another through uncertainty.
