About the event

WILD QUEERS is a series of guided sessions tuning into glimmers we can find in nature. For Pride month, join a small group for a short wheelable and walkable route in Margate's meadows and urban parks. Taking inspiration from queer ecology and disability justice, the sessions aim to create an intentional space of community care, where we learn from each other and see how nature can nourish and sustain us.Logistics: The sessions will last about 1.5 hours and are LGBTQIA+ & disability centred, with allies welcome too. The routes are designed with different access needs in mind and have been tested by an electric wheelchair user. There are seats with back and arms available for those who may need them, and the session has multiple access breaks built in. More detailed access info can be found here: Access informationWhat to expect: We will not be covering much distance, the aim instead is to take up space in nature spots that are not designed to be accessible and welcoming to us to change that. Just bring yourself, no previous knowledge needed. We'll learn about the habitats around us from Phoebe, ID some flora and fauna together, spend some time reading or listening to writing on nature, with Kahra weaving in some somatic practices. There will be no expectation to talk, so come along however you are feeling. Dates:Session 1 - Meadows @ Palm Bay, Tuesday 11 August, 6-7.30pmSession 2 - Trees @ Dane Park, Tuesday 18 August, 6-7.30pmFree and pay what you can options. Ticket donations go towards paying facilitators. Thank you so much.
