  1. 1961Hungary decriminalized consensual same-sex activity between adults. ↗
  2. 2002The age of consent was equalized at 14 for everyone after a Constitutional Court ruling. ↗
  3. 2009Registered partnerships for same-sex couples became legal, granting most marriage rights except adoption and shared surnames. ↗
  4. 2020Parliament abolished legal gender recognition for trans people and a constitutional amendment barred adoption by same-sex couples. ↗
  5. 2021A law banned content 'promoting' homosexuality or gender change to minors, restricting media, education and book sales. ↗
  6. 2025A constitutional amendment codified a strict gender binary and new legislation effectively banned Pride marches. ↗
