Hostel Wasabi Nagoya Ekimae

A pleasant hotel, mainly recommended for budget-conscious travelers. Very thin mattresses and shared bathrooms; a slight musty smell. For the price, it's fine as emergency accommodation or just for one night.

Overall, it's a good accommodation but maybe a lil bit pricey compared to Osaka or Kyoto. And there's an additional charge for using towels in the shower, which is usually a free service. 🤔

Check-in on March 20th Room: Lower bunk. The overall facilities were very complete, with all the amenities you'd expect from a capsule hotel, including a coffee machine and tea. There were quite a few international tourists checking in using tablets. Service: They basically explained the key points. Capsule hotels sell location, not service, so I wouldn't be too demanding in that aspect. However, it's also possible that we were lucky to be foreigners, so there wasn't much language barrier. Location: Very close to Nagoya Station. I would consider staying here again next time I travel to Nagoya.

It's convenient for early morning departures. Even on days with high pollen counts, I was able to sleep well thanks to the plasma ion air purifier. Thanks to it, I was able to go and take pictures of the beautiful cherry blossoms along the Kiso River embankment!

Check-in is until 10 PM. Overnight stays are not permitted after 11 PM. There's an additional 300 yen charge for late check-in after 10 PM. Considering there are many late guests returning from the dome (and it's just a capsule hotel!), this lack of flexibility is unacceptable. The location is good, and I appreciated that they had curling irons available. The cleanliness of the common areas is below that of a typical hostel. If you absolutely want to sleep on a futon, you'll have to put up with that. There were many foreigners, but perhaps by chance, there weren't any noisy guests.

It's fairly clean. The shower and sink are clean. Nothing was broken. This location at this price is unbelievable. For overseas backpackers and travelers who want to minimize accommodation costs, I don't think there's a better place. The location is excellent, so it's also recommended for those traveling to Tokyo, Osaka, Takayama, or Hokuriku by Shinkansen, local train, bus, or Chubu Centrair International Airport. It's within walking distance of Nagoya Station, so you won't get lost finding the accommodation. However, the only thing to note is that it's extremely dry. That's about it. It's a good idea to bring a towel, slippers, and identification. Personally, I loved the free miso soup (instead of free drinks) and drank it many times.

I used it just to sleep until morning. As expected for the price, the staff's customer service wasn't very good. Don't expect the homey atmosphere of a typical hostel or guesthouse. I was checked in by a man in his 40s or 50s wearing glasses, but he didn't greet me, and his explanations and instructions were brusque, making the whole experience unpleasant. If he's too rushed to be friendly, he shouldn't even come forward. The facilities are clean, but shower use and towels are all optional extras with additional charges. The services are not much different from a manga cafe.

It was better than I expected and was nice. It is just a capsule hotel. The staff were friendly, the location is close to the station, and there is a convenience store nearby. There are also plenty of comic books. If you stay for consecutive nights, there is a place to leave your luggage. As for toiletries, toner and lotion were provided as standard, which is a plus.
