Mercure Hotel Dresden Elbpromenade

Friendly staff and a good, large hotel restaurant serving hot meals at lunch and dinner. Spacious rooms, everything works, kettles with tea and coffee in the rooms, and free Wi-Fi allow for using the room as a part-time workspace. While the furnishings are visibly dated, they are mostly in good condition. Bathrooms have a shower-bathtub combination, though some of the showerheads could use descaling. Depending on the room's location, it can range from noisy (main road) to quiet (side/rear facing the Elbe River). Good transport links and a short walk to the tram. Parking spaces are available (€8/night), but street parking is difficult in the area. The immediate surroundings are rather commercial, with a Greek restaurant right next door. The tram provides good access to the old town and other sights. The price/performance ratio is good if you don't mind the slightly worn charm of the rooms. I stay there frequently for business, and it's well-suited for that purpose.

Great hotel. The staff is very friendly and the food is excellent. The rooms are very clean. I can even park my bus here. I'd gladly come back.

We spent one night at the hotel. It's located directly on the Elbe River, opposite a car dealership on a busy street with tram tracks, and about 50 meters away as the crow flies from a railway line. We didn't hear any outside noise during the night. Check-in was quick and easy. The rooms are functional, but could use a fresh coat of paint and an upgrade in terms of furniture. Our bathroom was clean and functional. A suggestion: a new hairdryer; the one currently in the room is past its prime and struggles. The beds were comfortable, though on the firmer side. The linens were clean. There was no refrigerator. The TV was mounted on a separate bracket but only turned on when plugged into the device. The staff was friendly. A suggestion: more information at check-in (where the restaurant is, where the nearest public transport is, what the check-out time is, and Wi-Fi availability). Specifically regarding our room, a more practical layout would be appreciated. While it's large, the room layout is rather odd. The bathroom is right next to the bed and very small. The desk is in a dark corner, and while the floor lamp and hallway light can be controlled from the bed, the desk light cannot. There are also no power outlets by the bed. It would probably be more practical to place the bed against the wall where the wardrobe is now, move the wardrobe further towards the hallway, and then put the (perhaps new and larger) television on the wall where the bed is currently located. Add storage underneath and a chair or sofa. Overall, though, it's really quite alright.

We booked a suite for two nights. When you book a suite, you have certain expectations. None of that was present. The "suite" definitely doesn't qualify as a suite. The room size was okay, but it was far from comfortable. There was no information about the hotel in the room, no breakfast times, etc. We were told we could ask at reception. As a paying guest, I don't want to have to go downstairs multiple times to find out what the menu is, breakfast times, Wi-Fi, and other things. The minibar wasn't stocked, and the glasses were sticky, so one of them broke. Someone was supposed to come the next day to vacuum. Yes, they came, and that was the only room service they provided. They didn't empty the ashtray (since we had a balcony), nor did they empty the trash cans... and they call that room service! We complained accordingly, including about the empty minibar. Even after we returned from town, nothing happened. At least we received a discount at check-out. We will definitely be avoiding this hotel in the future. The only positive thing I can say is that the staff at the bar and at breakfast were very friendly and kind, and we showed our appreciation with a tip. We treat ourselves to a suite once a year at Christmas time, just for the two of us without the kids. And so we know what we're talking about when it comes to what a suite is.

The hotel describes its location as "situated in a green setting on the banks of the Elbe." While the Elbe does flow behind the hotel, a main road with tram tracks runs directly past the front, with heavy traffic 24/7. A freight railway line is just 100 meters away. We barely slept a wink in our room facing the street. The windows are not adequately soundproofed. At the breakfast buffet, which costs a hefty €20, there were neither tablecloths nor were the tables even set with cutlery and a cup. The buffet offered only filter coffee and, among other things, pre-made cakes. Especially for the price, it could be much better. It had more of a cafeteria feel to it...

As always, very nice.

The rooms were clean and adequately furnished, the staff were very friendly and extremely helpful; we had to leave when breakfast opened and were immediately offered assistance and a small juice to take with us. Very kind.

Located outside the city center. Rooms are okay, but extremely noisy due to the street. Breakfast is good.

In the rooms facing the street, the street noise is very noticeable.
