Staubsauger

Staubsauger is a fixture of 'KarLi' — the Karl-Liebknecht-Straße strip that anchors Leipzig's alternative Südvorstadt — and one of the scene's more established gay meeting points. It pairs a street-level bar with a small Tanzkeller (dance cellar), pulling a young, mixed and alternative crowd rather than a slick commercial set. Alongside regular drinks and DJ nights it hosts art shows and community events, keeping the DIY, socially engaged feel that runs through much of queer Leipzig. It's a good bet for an unfussy night out south of the centre, easy to reach by tram and within stumbling distance of the rest of the Südvorstadt's cafés and bars.
