Betty Boo's is the gay village's lounge option: a cocktail bar on Carrer d'Alacant that opens at 5pm, earlier than most of its neighbours, and fills with people who want a good drink and a conversation before the louder half of the night begins. Longer-standing visitors may remember the site as King's Bar - Betty Boo's is its current incarnation, and it has kept the loyal early crowd while adding drag nights and a more polished cocktail list. The atmosphere is friendly and unhurried, with staff who set the tone. It runs six days a week - closed Sundays - until 2am on weeknights and 2:30am on Friday and Saturday. Its position in the middle of the Alacant strip makes it an easy first stop on the way to Mercury, Sensations and the rest of the triangle.
