MedPlaya Hotel Calypso

Well, to start with the day of our arrival, we wanted to shower, but it was impossible because no water came out of the shower. I filed a complaint, and the next day we still couldn't shower. I had to get really, really angry, and they finally fixed it almost at night. Two days without being able to shower in this heat! The air conditioning was malfunctioning, the hairdryer didn't even produce any airflow, and the rooms were somewhat dirty. The buffet was the worst I've ever been to. They charged €2.40 for purified tap water. Rooms were checked at 4 pm without any effort on their part, and the receptionist was pathetic. The pools were closed in the summer at 7 and 7.30. I won't go on because it makes me furious how much money they charge for the terrible service they provide.

We've returned to this hotel again, and this will be the last time... the rooms are filthy, the food is appalling... there's cross-contamination everywhere... meat on the grill where the fish was cooked and vice versa... food that falls out of the pots gets thrown back in... the sauces are awful, some are curdled... it's a disgrace, it wasn't like this before... But the last straw was today when we decided to do a late check-out last night, and a receptionist told us, "No problem, come down early tomorrow morning and my colleague will do it for you." Okay, great. I went down in the morning, and to my surprise, they refused, saying there was no availability at the hotel. I told her what her colleague had said, and she said, "Well, there isn't any." I went online and showed her that it was showing room availability, and she said, "Well, I'm not going to do your late check-out. If you want, book one night and you'll have a late check-out." I asked if she was messing with me, and she said, "Pay more and you'll get it." But the real kicker was that when I filed a complaint about what happened, they threw it in the trash. And they wouldn't even let me finish filling it out...the foreigner next to me got a late check-out for 40 euros until 6 pm, and they were making me pay 100 euros for a night just to have the room. I asked if they were messing with me, and they said it was because they were English and wouldn't be leaving until later that night...I asked to speak to a supervisor, and they said, "Sure, for you..." and then told me to move aside because I had other guests to attend to...I left reluctantly and with no desire to ever set foot in that place again...a complete disgrace!!

Please, I would like the opportunity to teach the cooks at this hotel how to cook. The food couldn't possibly be that bad; even with malicious intent, it's impossible to cook that poorly. Everything else about the hotel is very good. But the food is terrible. Please speak to the head chef.

Horrible, a terrible experience. Children go on their end-of-year trip and they take their deposit for something they didn't do and can't prove. It's a bit of a lottery; they draw straws and see who gets stuck paying. They tell you the repair is more expensive than the deposit, a repair they don't do since the kids are there and see that no work is being done. They claim there's proof because their suitcases are in a video they made, but they don't show it to you. You can see from photos the kids take when they arrive that the suitcases are stored in a closet, so the supposed video of the damage is a lie since the suitcases can never be taken out. By the way, be careful with cleaning because they steal, and the hotel's only advice is not to leave things out. It's possible your belongings will turn up in other rooms, as happened to the kids. They take advantage of the fact that they're minors and scam them, so if you have children going on an end-of-year trip, be careful because they will be robbed and scammed.

Hi, the hotel was very good. Check-in was quick and we got into our room before the scheduled time, so that was great. On the other hand, I didn't like the room at all. The bed mattress was springy and very uncomfortable to sleep on, the balcony didn't have a good view, and the TV was very small. In short, I was very dissatisfied with the room 🤨 (too bad I didn't take pictures). The buffet was 10 out of 10; the food, the service, and the attention were superb 👍🏼. The pools, the location, and everything else were very good. Anyway, thanks.

The hotel gets worse every year. The food is practically nonexistent; you constantly have to ask the cooks to replenish it. Don't expect a late check-out... They offer the service, but when you want to use it, it's all just lame excuses.

I've stayed at this hotel five or six times over the years and have noticed quite a few changes, mostly for the worse. Before, when you bought water, they gave you a 1-liter bottle, and later they changed it to a reusable filtered water bottle that you could refill for free as many times as you wanted; now it costs €2.50 and only contains 0.75 liters, with no refill option. They've also reduced the size of the pool, yet the hotel website still shows photos of the old one, which even had water slides. The restaurant has also clearly seen a reduction in the quality and variety of the food. On the plus side, the rooms are still comfortable, with air conditioning that works very well, as well as a refrigerator and television.

The room was fine, but they stole a watch from us; they made up a story that we flooded the room.

We got a room on the 6th floor with a great terrace, about 25 square meters. I recommend room 605. The staff was friendly, and Mrs. Raqel at the front desk was absolutely lovely. 10 out of 6. Just the kind of lady vacationers would want.

Bit noisy with kids, they would do well to have adults only pool. Food really good plenty of choices. Rooms small but adequate. Great location.

The hotel is packed with tourists, where Spaniards are the only foreigners. Everyone's wearing their wristbands and going all out with food and drink. The pools are overcrowded, although there's usually space, but people "reserve" their spots with their towels as early as 8 am. And they close relatively early, at 7 pm, which is a bit late for summer. The breakfast and lunch/dinner buffets are just okay. Be warned, if you don't have a wristband, they charge you for everything, even tap water... you have to bring your own water or drinks to avoid being ripped off. In short, a hotel for a few nights, nothing more. The beach, although close, requires a climb, which is tough in the heat. But the cove is great, clean and peaceful, and the water is shallow enough for kids. It's in a quiet area, away from the party zone, and there's parking a bit further away, but it's not a paid parking zone, so you don't have to worry about paying... Every day there are shows for children and adults on the pool terrace.

I honestly don't understand how a game room can have no air conditioning. For this reason, we won't be back. The children were running around in the heat, so we couldn't enjoy ourselves. The staff were fine, that's the only good thing. It was unbearable to put up with this heat. By the way, I hope the website gets updated; there's no bowling alley listed. Thanks.
