Midnight Sun, a Coast Hotels

I stayed in this hotel Tuesday - Friday in early June, and those details matter in my rating. The room I got was the king suite which is absolutely beautiful and so luxurious. The staff was wonderful and helped me out when my key didn’t work about four different times (don’t store it near a phone or credit card). Anyway Tuesday - Thursday morning I loved the hotel and the room. It was very spacious, newly renovated, super quiet, had great large dark blinds, a Samsung tv I could cast my phone to… truly wonderful. Then Thursday night came and the bar below my room was open for the weekend. The spare the details, my room was vibrating until 3:45am despite the bar closing at 2am. I was so frustrated and called the hotel many times for help —I even called the police. In no world should that room be rented out on the weekend in the summer, it’s like trying to sleep IN a nightclub. To give credit to the hotel, they did not charge me for my final night but for most folks, myself included, that’s frustration spoils the trip even if you don’t end up paying. I write this in my review to hopefully warn others —WONDERFUL experience Monday-Thursday morning, probably great in the winter as well, but not appropriate for when the bar is open.

I wouldn't recommend staying at the Midnight Sun. The room seemed cozy initially and clearly had recently been updated. However, as another reviewer noted, there is a bar located directly below the rooms. We quickly discovered that the sound proofing was inadequate. All three nights of our stay, the music coming from the bar prevented us from sleeping until around 2 am. I wish I could attach a video so you could hear just how loud it was in our room... A few other things to note: - The bed was really soft. - There is no check in desk at the hotel. You have to go to the Downtown Hotel to check in. - The water pressure in the shower is extremely strong. However, it's so strong that the drain can't keep up with the volume of water and you end up standing in ~2 inches of water while you're showering.

Booked one night at the Midnight Sun Hotel, accidentally stayed for three because the walls whispered compliments and I felt emotionally supported. Room smelled faintly of adventure and maple syrup. The lobby moose offered me stock tips. Breakfast? A pancake the size of a manhole cover served by a woman named Bev who might be immortal. At midnight, the sun challenged me to a staring contest. I lost. Would absolutely let this hotel ruin my life again. would recommend.

FYI when you arrive to the hotel, you check in at another hotel down the block. There is no one working at the Midnight Sun desk. The location was nice because every thing was within walking distance. However, I’d suggest booking a hotel that isn’t around the local bars. Each night during our stay, Monday- Friday, people from the bar would be yelling/screaming/singing up and down the road or outside our window. Not ideal if you or your children are easily woken. Our hotel rooms shower didn’t drain until you were done your shower. Not sure how often the shower curtains are changed but if they aren’t, then you’re standing in previous peoples germ water. Our bathroom didn’t have a fan, and our window didn’t open, so the room was very humid. The beds are perfect if it is just you alone, 2 people for the queen is not ideal. The edges of the bed curve down, so you’re both sleeping in the middle, shoulder-shoulder.

I booked a room to get ready for my wedding (we were otherwise camping). The king suite with a balcony - and it was perfect. The staff were incredibly accommodating and both the room and the lobby were beautiful for our pictures. Many of our guests who stayed were also very happy with the lobby as it was well set up but quiet so a great place to meet up with everyone, play cards, have a drink, etc.

It's a great place with lots of character. There are darkening blinds but they don't keep all the light out.

Very nice room with a comfortable bed, nice bathroom and shower, and friendly staff. The decor inside the lobby is very, very nice … sets a great mood while staying jn town. Will definitely stay here again!

After reading the response from the owner i am aware that this review was for the wrong Midnight sun hotel. My daughter had spent the summer in Dawson City and and had nothing but amazing things to say about all the people and services there.

nit pleasant checkin again, but rooms arr great, excellent coffee in room...
