Midnight Sun, a Coast Hotel, is a boutique property operated by Coast Hotels, a Canadian hospitality chain emphasizing regional experiences. I appreciated a lot my experience there. The rooms were clean. Established as a historic site in 1985, the hotel has undergone recent renovations to integrate Dawson City's gold rush heritage with contemporary luxury, creating a seamless blend of nostalgia and modern amenities.
Not told until check-in that my room was above a karaoke bar that's open till 2 am. At $250 per night, I felt that should've been disclosed in advance - and it seems to have been a bone of contention with other travellers, too. The bar itself was unremarkable. The hotel, otherwise, was great. Friendly staff, comfortable room and a complimentary shuttle to and from the airport. But please do something about the bar situation.
Abysmal. I made friends with a German tourist who didn't speak English, and the karaoke host followed him outside when he had a beer, took the beer out of his hand, threw it in the street, and screamed at him that he can't drink out of the bar. I get it a little, but it was so rude and unwelcoming to a tourist, and just a really depressing attitude to see from a place that's entirely dependent on tourism. No understanding that tourists might have different laws at home and need education to follow our stupid liquor laws, just full on screaming. I felt national shame, the staff were so rude. Avoid karaoke, the host has severe issues.
Very centrally located. Immaculately clean room with a view over the town, very picturesque entrance area. Comfortable beds and a good bathroom. It only misses out on a perfect score because the air conditioning is really very loud and the hotel is not soundproof. Otherwise, it's quite good.
I’ve been coming to Dawson for 5 years. This is the worst hotel I stayed. No one should be put in the room above the night club. There is no acoustic what so ever. The music and base is just pounding as if the party is in your room from 9pm to 2am.
This is probably the most updated hotel in Dawson. Rooms are comfortable and the AC is super handy on those hot Dawson days! Location is right in the heart of Dawson and just be aware, this town is bumping during the summer on weekends, so noise is there. Didn't bother us at all. The lobby is stunning, but be prepared to check in at the downtown hotel around the corner! Friendly and accommodating staff and lots of history in this building!
