Tūpuna Maunga Authority & Michael King Writers' Centre Tūpuna Maunga Residency

The Tūpuna Maunga Authority, in partnership with the Michael King Writers' Centre, is offering two residencies for writers, creatives, and researchers whose work engages with the Tūpuna Maunga of Tāmaki Makaurau. Each residency includes a two-week stay at the historic Signalman's House on Takarunga / Mt Victoria in Devonport, with a stipend paid at living wage. Dates are flexible between October 2026 and May 2027. Projects can be new or ongoing, across creative arts, literature, social sciences, and applied sciences. You must be a New Zealand citizen or permanent resident. Mana Whenua writers, TMA Research Scholarship applicants, and Tūpuna Maunga project specialists are encouraged to apply. Applications can be submitted in Te Reo Māori and/or English.
