Axel Hotel Berlin

The location is very good. The rooms are a bit dated, and we couldn't get rid of the poppers smell despite airing them out. Breakfast was incredibly bad. The cappuccino was undrinkable, a double espresso with milk that was far too hot. The buffet consisted of rolls, butter, jam, salami, cold cuts, and Gouda cheese. On the second day, there wasn't even that. The Gouda and cold cuts were missing. There was also a menu for egg dishes. The scrambled eggs with bacon and mushrooms that we ordered had cold cuts instead of bacon. The mushrooms arrived 20 minutes later. By then, I had already finished my egg.

A bit dark but comfortable. The pool area was closed for renovations, which detracted from its charm.

It looks like a gay hotel, but as a straight guest, you feel entirely welcome and comfortable. The rooms are nice, clean, and stylish. The customer service is excellent, the pricing was affordable, and the location is fantastic for getting around.

Spa closed for renovation but why would you bother to tell the customers before they book? Quite impolite response from the reception staff.

As someone who has traveled to six continents and stayed in dozens of hotels, from the most remote ones to the most luxurious, Axel Hotel became the hotel where I felt the happiest in my entire life. It was not just a hotel; it was also the safe stop of a journey I took into the depths of my own soul. First of all, I had ordered many products from Amazon Germany, and I was feeling a little nervous about it because there were so many items, and I did not want to bother the hotel or the staff with them. When I went to check in with my gay friends, Kevin welcomed us. He was so warm, smiling, friendly, and professional... When I saw the smile in Kevin’s eyes, I took a deep breath. When I gave him my passport for the check-in, he also recognized me because of my packages. The situation I had been worried about turned into a moment where I laughed and felt relieved. He told me not to rush to pick up the packages, and that I could get them whenever I wanted after settling into my room. Indeed, I had a lot of luggage, and after settling into my room, I went downstairs and received my items. Kevin told us that in any situation, we could call reception and ask for information, and that we should feel at home. I will never forget his friendship, helpfulness, and kindness. I was very sad that I could not say goodbye to him when I left. He also has a home in Istanbul. I hope he gets the chance to read this review. The hotel is extremely enjoyable and right in the heart of the gay scene. When we went, some parts were under renovation, but this absolutely did not affect our trip negatively. On the contrary; while walking around inside the hotel, I met a wonderful person whom I now call my “brother,” and it became the beginning of a brand-new friendship. The rooms are very spacious, full of light, and spotless. Housekeeping is extremely attentive and friendly. My room was on DND mode, and they left a note at the door saying that if I needed anything during the day, I should inform reception. They were the kindest people I have ever seen in my life. Security is also just as important to me. After a certain hour, the hotel’s main door is locked and can only be opened with a card. This made me feel extremely safe amid all the fun and madness, as if everyone knew very well what they were doing. The fact that all the corridors of the hotel are surrounded by mirrors, sharing the same hotel with so many gay people, being both very free and taking responsibility for that freedom, and acting with the respect that comes from knowing you are part of a community — all of this was beautiful. I felt so free. After years, I stepped out from among the shadows where I had been hiding. As a brand-new version of myself, I appeared radiant and shining. I am so glad you exist. When I left the hotel, I could not stop myself and I cried. My heart stayed there. And I would also like to thank Nereida, who saw us off with her beautiful energy and radiant presence as we were leaving. I hope I have not written her name incorrectly; if I have, I am very sorry. I hope we will see each other again very soon. Kevin; my friend, you are my king. PS: I would also like to add, as a note, that being supported by the community, meeting other people from different countries, running into people even inside the hotel and in the corridors, creating new possibilities and friendships, and not being trapped inside Grindr felt so real and beautiful.

Air conditioning did not work during my one week stay although a fan was provided to circulate the air it did very little too cool down the room. The sauna was closed due to maintenance issues. Staff was friendly, helpful, knowledgeable, polite, prompt and attentive. The location was wonderful.

After staying at Axel TWO in Barcelona on our honeymoon last year - we were really looking forward to our stay at Axel Berlin. We really liked the hotel - and had a great stay. Positives: great location which is close to a lot of LGBT Berlin nightlife and the metro, super friendly and hospitable staff and easy check in procedures on arrival. We were upgraded to a Junior Suite which we really appreciated. The room was spacious and generally clean. Bed was comfortable and we liked the free amenities that were offered in the room including lots of toiletries and bathrobes. It was also nice to have a full bath and separate shower in the room. Negatives: While the room was generally clean, the bath jets had clearly not been cleaned as floating bits were in the water when the jets were switched on. There was traffic and outside noise from the room - one to maybe think about if you’re a light sleeper. TV didn’t work properly so weren’t able to watch it and the WiFi didn’t work either. On check out day, we had an abrupt knock on the door to be told check out was 11. It would’ve been better if we were told during check in of the times as it’s unusual for a hotel to have such an early check out. The spa and bar weren’t open as they were closed for renovation. (the hotel did tell us this before arrival - but not on booking) Overall a great stay - we look forward to returning when all of the hotel amenities are open.

Little bit pricey adults only hotel for what it is. Rooms are fairly smart and modern though small. Bed was comfortable enough though could feel a few springs poking through. Shower over spa bath combo, worked ok. Decent pressure and temp shower. Coffee making facilities in room were poor... just a kettle and some instant coffee with old whitener that was too crusty to use. Location is great, 3 min walk to the metro/underground. Gym and spa were being refurbished, so gym was small but useable with decent mix of machines and weights. It's meant to 4 star but I'd say more 3 star.

You are in exactly the right place here in Berlin. A little different for the connoisseur, and with the service for those who need a moment of peace. My highlight is the breakfast buffet.
