About this place Axel Hotel Berlin

Axel Hotel Berlin is the flagship gay-specific hotel in Germany and one of the most significant in Europe — part of the Spanish-founded Axel Hotels chain that also operates in Barcelona, Madrid, Buenos Aires and Tel Aviv. The Berlin property occupies a 210-room building in Schöneberg, 200 metres from the Kurfürstendamm and walking distance from the Nollendorfplatz gay district. The signature feature is the rooftop SkyBar with its retractable roof and heated outdoor pool — arguably the best rooftop experience in Berlin, operating as a social hub for hotel guests and non-guests throughout the summer. The WhyNot Bar on the ground floor is a bear-friendly lounge bar that operates as a neighbourhood social venue as well as a hotel bar. Rooms are design-oriented: the chain's aesthetic is sleek without being cold, explicitly gay-branded without being campy. The location is ideal for gay travellers: walking distance from Schöneberg's bars, central enough for the entire city, near the U-Bahn to Kreuzberg, Mitte and Prenzlauer Berg. During CSD week in July, the hotel is a hub of activity — book 6+ months in advance for Pride. The hotel is genuinely gay-owned in its chain structure: guests can be entirely open in a way that requires no management of other guests' reactions.

We had a very good stay at Axel Berlin. Comfortable rooms, good service. I especially want to highlight the attention from Nereida and everyone else.

Excellent service from Nereida and all the staff, always attentive to every need. The gym is very well equipped and the rooms are comfortable. Great service and stay at the hotel, thank you for everything!

I was checked in by Santiago, He is such a polite and considerate young man. He called to make sure everything was ok in my room. The safe needs looked at as the keys were sunken in and my big fingers would not make it work. Santiago tried to have a look at it but it was over his abilities. I was impressed that he tried. I would definitely hire him to work for me. I believe Hotel Axel is lucky to have Santiago as an employee. Sincerely Daniel Witucki Dandy Fabrications Inc Owner

Excellent gay friendly hotel in the perfect location. All the staff weee so welcoming and friendly. Santi made us feel so welcome upon check in. Rooms are great. Quiet air conditioning and comfortable bed. Only one suggestion would be to add USB/C charging point which would be useful

I saw many bad reviews about their breakfast and have to disagree. Yes, the breakfast options for food are very basic: bread rolls, cold cuts, yoghurt. however, they have a menu where you can order your eggs with a long list of add-ons. Staff's at breakfast are very attentive and friendly. I would suggest some cold fresh juice (instead of the processed juice) for some refreshment in the morning.

Service was very poor. Breakfast was bad. They have menu where you can order but egg style 2/7 optionions was only available no bacon no salmon etc... what was in memu. No fruits. You had to be active to be able to order from the menu. Staff didn t care about it. I would not recomend this hotel. Also reception promised to contact about room change. They never did.
