MEININGER Hotel Dresden Zentrum

The rooms are cool and inspiring, a real eye-catcher. Some have balconies. The pillows desperately need replacing...they were unbearable at night.

We attended the event and booked two days at the Backstage Hotel. We're repeat offenders, probably on our sixth or seventh visit. This time we wanted to take our time and go to the old town again, which is easily done by tram line 11. The hotel itself has seen better days. It desperately needs a fresh, clean coat of paint to compete with the Dream Factory. The beds are far too low for older people. The rooms and bathrooms are very creative and spacious. But the dirty shower curtain is completely unacceptable. And if you want to dress up for the event, the bathroom lacks light. We love being enchanted by the Dream Factory and enjoy the performances time and time again.

Great atmosphere, fantastic prime location in the heart of Dresden. Rooms are relatively clean and charmingly furnished. The tram (number 11) gets you everywhere in no time! The Carte Blanche Varieté is part of the hotel and definitely worth a visit (even without staying overnight). I'd come back anytime!

Whether you get clean rooms and the corresponding service here always depends on who's on duty. Some members of staff go above and beyond to ensure guests have a great stay. Other employees make you feel like you should apologize for being a guest. It's also not pleasant that business conflicts are shamelessly aired in front of and at the guests' eyes. However, the rooms are tastefully and harmoniously designed and, on the whole, make a decent impression.

To recap, first and foremost when I arrived, they sent me to a room with a key. And when I opened that room, there was already someone in it. So I literally walked in on someone in their room. They gave me a key to a room that opened the door where there was already someone staying. That’s unsafe for both of us first of all. Second of all, I woke up the next morning in the new room that they gave me and there was blood all over my bed. And this is because they have an infestation of Bedbugs in their hotel. At that point I no longer felt safe and I told them I wanted to leave. And you will see, the blood— my blood— that was all over the bed due to an infestation of bed bugs or ticks biting me throughout the night. I had to leave the hotel. I did not stay the second night. And because of that, I had to pay for one night in another Hotel in Dresden. At this point two weeks later. The hotel is unresponsive and right now, hotels.com is refusing me a refund. I stay with them all of the time. I can’t believe that they would allow this experience to happen and then not process a refund simply the hotel won’t respond. Horrible.

A stunningly beautiful hotel in an absolutely peaceful location, yet very close to the vibrant Neustadt scene. The rooms are beautifully decorated and truly spacious. The attention to detail is remarkable. The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. This hotel leaves nothing to be desired and clearly stands out from the crowd. Thank you so much for your time.

Excellent and quiet location in the new town, not far from the nightlife. The old town is about a 30-minute walk away, or you can take public transport. It can be a bit noisy when there's a show next door, which only happened once during our five-night stay, but then it's quiet again by 10:30 pm. The room was great and comfortable; ours had a large balcony. Cleanliness was okay, although there were still some dust, lint, or water stains visible after cleaning. The breakfast was good, and we were particularly impressed by the excellent coffee, which isn't always the case in hotels. We were a little annoyed by the disorganized TV channels; it took a while to find the ones we wanted.
