Cospudener See

Cospudener See ('Cossi') is one of the flooded former mining lakes that ring Leipzig, a hugely popular summer swimming and sailing spot just south of the city. Its quieter western shore, in the wooded fringes near the Seesportclub, has a long-tolerated gay cruising and naturist scene that comes alive in warm, sunny weather. This is very much a daytime, good-weather affair: the crowd thins to nothing off-season. Because it's an open recreational lakeshore shared with families and swimmers, keep things discreet and in the wooded edges, respect other beach-goers, and don't leave litter. Standard sense applies — go with a friend if you can, keep valuables on you, and take no for an answer. Same-sex activity is legal in Germany; public-decency law still applies in the open.
