Cospudener See, known locally as 'Cossi', is one of the flooded opencast-mining lakes south of Leipzig and a busy summer spot for swimming and sailing. The quieter western shore, in the wooded strip near the Seesportclub, has a long-tolerated gay cruising and nude-sunbathing scene.
It is a warm-weather, daytime thing: on sunny summer afternoons there are people around, and off-season it is close to empty. The lakeshore is shared with families and swimmers, so keep anything sexual well back in the trees and out of sight, take your rubbish with you, keep valuables on you and accept a no. Public-decency laws still apply.
