Hotel Leipzig City Nord by Campanile

I'm really sorry, but the value for money here just isn't there. The rooms are okay, but only okay. They feel like guest rooms at an aunt's house. For the price, I really expected more. (However, the upper floor is currently being renovated (as of May 2026). Presumably, it will be better then!). The breakfast seemed cheap and was nothing special. The staff was very friendly, except for one grumpy, older gentleman in the breakfast room. It was alright, especially since the company paid for the room. But I think there are cheaper, better alternatives in Leipzig.

I've never experienced such a place in a city like this! Old, dirty, and the guy at reception was as unenthusiastic as a piece of chewing gum stuck to the ground! The place is probably being renovated, which is desperately needed, but it should happen quickly; it's simply unacceptable!

The room was very basic but clean, with too few lamps and the ones that were there had a loose connection. Breakfast was okay, but there were no alternatives to dairy products. The beds were acceptable. There was ongoing renovation work in the building, but this wasn't mentioned on the website or at check-in. Conclusion: overpriced

First, the positives: The location is fantastic. It's right next to tram lines 14 and 16. Everything you need is within easy walking distance. It was also remarkably quiet, which was unusual/a real luxury for us in a big city. The breakfast buffet was okay. The selection wasn't huge, but it was sufficient for a decent breakfast. Unlike other hotels we've stayed in, you weren't allowed to take a roll with you. Unfortunately, the rooms are very noisy. You can hear everything, like if someone is walking around in the room above, using the bathroom, or even just opening and closing doors. This is fine during the day, but after 10 p.m. it's rather annoying if you've been out all day. However, what's completely unacceptable is this: We arrived by car. There's currently some construction going on at the hotel, so a large container is blocking the parking spaces in front of the entrance. As a result, we drove straight into the "public, paid underground parking garage" (as mentioned once in the email). . ... Neither the website nor the email mentioned that you should get a ticket from reception BEFORE entering the underground parking garage. We only found this out after check-in, and there we were simply told, "You don't have to take a ticket from us if you don't want one, but you can think about it; you don't have to decide right away." At that point, the receptionist had already seen that we were staying for four nights, and we weren't informed how expensive the parking garage is without a hotel parking ticket. At check-out, we asked about the ticket again, but by then we were told it was too late. Long story short: we were shocked to find out we had to pay €88 to exit. Incidentally, the parking meter only accepts cash. This pretty much ruined what was otherwise an almost perfect vacation, and we most likely won't be staying here again.

We traveled as a couple and were visiting family. Unfortunately, the "feel-good" apartment was already booked, which is why we chose this one. Sadly, our stay was disappointing. Unfriendly staff, booking through the hotel's website somewhat confusing, the room feels oppressive, the electrical outlets don't work, the bathroom grout is covered in black mold, and on the first morning, the curtain rod fell on our heads when we opened the curtain (which explains why the floor and walls are full of holes). The bathroom is dimly lit (you shower in the dark), a musty smell hits you upon entering the hotel, the registration form is only available in English (this didn't bother me personally, but I heard about it from other guests), the hairdryer's DGUV inspection was long overdue (last inspection three years ago), the water smells strange, the double bed is actually two beds pushed together, there are large stains behind the curtain on the walls, and the whole hotel feels very gloomy. Positive aspects: There is hot water, heating is available and working, there is an elevator, and a parking garage is also available (parking at the Eutritzsch market is recommended, it's free!). The location is good, check-out is quick, we didn't book breakfast, and there was water pressure. Conclusion: Overall, very Uncomfortable stay. We won't book again; next time we'll stay in the comfortable apartment on Delitzscher Strasse.

The furnishings in the first-floor room were adequate for its star rating. However, the cleanliness was not. The room smelled extremely musty upon first entering, and the odor persisted. There were cobwebs above the window and in the bathroom, and dust bunnies on the floor next to the bed. The drain plug was missing from the bathroom sink, and the shower was moldy in many places. The ventilation filter was extremely dusty and emitted an additional unpleasant odor. The light strip above the sink was speckled with stains (which – I tried it myself – could have been removed by wiping it with a damp cloth). The provided hairdryer was so dusty that I would consider using it dangerous. Overall, the room was not well-maintained. It should also be mentioned that the mattresses on both beds were worn out and had developed indentations. The only truly excellent feature is the location. With the tram stop right outside the door and behind the hotel, you can reach the city center very quickly. Parking is available in the public parking garage, which is also used by REWE.

The hotel is in need of some renovation. The location is good. The staff on the late shift were slightly rude... The hotel does have a bar and a TV, but apparently everything is without power. So, you're watching football on your phone and get asked to turn it down. I didn't even know my phone had a subwoofer. The poor night shift, who received a rather unappreciative training session on Friday, were considerably friendlier, though.

Uncomplicated, friendly, and they honor bookings.

I booked for two nights and I must say it was a very nice hotel. I had room 308, which was a little small but still lovely. The staff were also very friendly. The location was fantastic, with lots of shops nearby. In short, I would definitely book this hotel again.

In my opinion, the hotel was pleasant, the room was good for the price, the service was also good, and the reception was friendly. The price for 3 nights was good; you can't complain.
