Hotel Quentin Golden Bear

Extremely dirty hotel, unspeakable staff, they confiscated our belongings, documents, and medications, and to get them back, we had to pay a €250 fine for smoking in the room, without ever having smoked and without any proof. We were truly scammed. We weren't even in the room, and no one notified us. The manager refused to come for a confrontation or provide us with any proof. A truly terrible experience. This hotel truly casts a bad light on this beautiful city. It really should be closed down. DO NOT STAY THERE!!!

Dirty. Uncomfortable. Rude staff. With the unfounded accusation of smoking in the room (without any valid proof and without any authority), they confiscated all our belongings, including my life-saving medications, and forced us to pay a €250 "fine" to get everything back. When we asked to speak to the manager, he refused, and when we asked for proof, they told us the smoke alarm went off when we weren't in the room. Truly a terrible experience!!!!!!!!!!

After reading many reviews regarding bad service, bed bugs and unclean rooms I was worried after booking a 2 night stay in this hotel, however none of the reviews where true in my experience. The rooms are clean and basic with comfortable beds with fresh sheets and zero signs of bed bugs and trust me I looked. The stairs are steep which is to be expected in a heritage building but wasn't a major issue. The location of the hotel is amazing however it is next to a coffeshop which is open until 1am which could be an issue for some people. My only negative was they asked for a 100euro deposit on arrival which wasn't mentioned in the booking details. Overall I was more than happy with my stay and will be using this hotel when I visit again.

Only good thing about this place was the location. Walking distance to lots of things. Other than that rooms are extremely small and old. Stairs are super steep and on top of that our room key was not working and there was no one to help us at the front desk. We had to call another branch to send someone in and when they tried again, turned out that the door key recognition itself was not working so we slept in a room with nothing in it for a night. No luggage no pillow no bedsheets nothing.

I had the worst experience of my life. I was staying at this place and, as in any other hotel, I left my personal belongings in my room. When I came back, the housekeeping staff had thrown away and taken my belongings, including my passport, iPhone chargers, Apple Watch charger, house keys, souvenirs I had bought the day before, a charger case, iPhone wired headphones, and other items worth over €100 — including my passport. They claimed they thought everything was trash and therefore threw it away because it was in a Starbucks bag. This happened on Saturday night around 8 p.m., and no staff member was able to provide a solution. I tried to contact the manager, but I was told they were unreachable even thought it’s an emergency? I was supposed to travel to Germany (where I live but I come from another South American country) the next day, but I had no passport. I went to the police station that night to report the missing items, but it was apparently closed. I returned the following day, as instructed, and filed a police report since I had received no response from any hotel supervisor. I needed this report to apply for a new passport at the embassy of my country in Amsterdam (a real paperwork!!). After I obtained the police report, I asked the hotel if they could try to recover my belongings from the trash since they claimed they had thrown them away. Hours later, a man arrived with my “trash” in a Starbucks bag containing all my belongings. I honestly don’t know what to think. Were they planning to keep my things? They never explained where my belongings had been stored. If my passport had not been in that bag, would they have kept everything else? I had chargers, personal items, and even my house keys. On top of that, one morning around 8 a.m., staff entered my room while I was sleeping. I reported this to the front desk, but nothing was done and no explanation was given by a supervisor. After that, I felt unsafe and couldn’t sleep peacefully, constantly worrying that someone might enter my room again. I paid for a private room, not a shared hostel. Additionally, the room was freezing cold the entire stay, and I ended up getting sick. My weekend in Amsterdam turned into a nightmare instead of being peaceful and enjoyable. The staff barely spoke English, which made everything even more difficult. If I hadn’t caused a scene, I honestly believe they would have kept my belongings. Without that “trash”, I wouldn’t have been able to even enter my own home, since my keys were taken as well. To this day, I have received no apology from anyone. I strongly recommend avoiding this place!!!!

Deeply disappointing stay. As an LGBTQ+ traveler, I felt noticeably unwelcome from the moment I checked in. The staff’s attitude toward me was cold and uncomfortable enough that I ended up avoiding the front desk altogether. Combine that with a run-down room and awful noise levels, and this place became an instant “never again.” Would not recommend to anyone, especially those looking for an inclusive environment.

Absolutely awful. My room smelled like ancient mop water, the walls were paper-thin, and the “amenities” looked like they were bought at a garage sale. Staff seemed burned out and rarely available. I couldn’t check out fast enough. Hard pass.

I honestly wish I could give this place zero stars. My stay at the Quentin Bear Hotel was… an experience I wouldn’t wish on anyone. The front desk was a ghost town half the time, and when someone finally showed up, they looked like they had sprinted there from another dimension. Housekeeping skipped my room entirely one day, then showed up at 7am the next day banging on the door like they were reenacting a police raid. For the price, this place should be way better. I left more exhausted than when I arrived. Would not recommend unless every other hotel within 50 miles is fully booked — and even then, maybe sleep in your car.

One of the worst services I have ever experienced. The staff is extremely unprofessional, they provide not even the basic amenities even though it says they do.
