The staff were very attentive and friendly.

We loved our stay. The location is excellent, close to the river which allows for kayaking. The hotel is very quiet and clean. The pool is nice.

A simple hotel with a room overlooking the river. The most noteworthy aspect was the friendliness and helpfulness of the receptionist who gave us our room before check-in time. After a long trip, not having to wait for our room was a real plus.

The room we got was nothing like the photos available; it was possibly the worst room in the hotel, and it looks like it was previously a storage room. The fact that they identify the hotel as 3 stars when it's actually 1 star already demonstrates how wrong this accommodation is in its entirety. When we entered the room, it had an unbearable smell, difficult to identify (somewhere between mold and paint smell). We opened the windows and went for a walk, hoping it would go away, but it didn't. There was too much noise during the early morning hours. The quality of sleep was terrible; we slept until 4 am and couldn't sleep any longer, due to the noise, the smell of the room, and the difficulty in regulating the temperature, even with the AC. Unfortunately, I do not recommend this accommodation if you want to visit Mértola.

Good quality for the price

Hotel Beira Rio is one of the best examples of what Portuguese family-run hotels can and should be. A true "charming hotel," where charm lies in authenticity, charisma, hygiene, service, and comfort. The location is excellent, parking is easy and safe. The staff are incredibly friendly and efficient. The rooms are extremely comfortable, air-conditioned, clean, and the food is wonderful. Everything is managed without pretension but with the determination to deliver a memorable stay. We were very happy to have found this gem of Portuguese hospitality. Congratulations to the owners, management, and staff for what they have managed to build in this corner of Portugal. We recommend it.

The rooms (we took two doubles) are spotless and comfortable. One of them has a bathtub, which is a plus. The only inconvenience is that the reception is in neighbouring hotel.
