La Fàbrica de Hielo — The Ice Factory — occupies a converted industrial space in Ruzafa that retains enough of its original architecture to justify the name: high ceilings, exposed brick and pipework, an aesthetic that sits comfortably between post-industrial and contemporary bar design. The venue is larger than Pub Black and operates at a slightly higher energy level, with a cocktail programme that takes its drinks seriously and a sound system calibrated for a crowd that is there to enjoy an evening rather than just drink. The mixed clientele — gay men predominantly, but welcoming of lesbians, queer women, and friends of the scene — reflects Ruzafa's character as a neighbourhood rather than a gay ghetto. The space works well both early in the evening, when the industrial architecture is visible and conversation is possible, and late, when the crowd has built and the bar reaches its natural cruising density. The industrial aesthetic gives La Fàbrica a visual character that distinguishes it from the more conventional gay bars in the neighbourhood, and the quality of the drinks means it functions as a genuine destination rather than just a waypoint on a bar crawl.
