Brussels has a small LGBTQ+ retail scene concentrated near the Saint-Jacques quarter. It is not extensive but the basics are covered, and the city's general shopping environment fills in the gaps for most things visitors need.

What is in the scene

The Saint-Jacques quarter and the streets around the Rue du Marche au Charbon have some shops carrying pride merchandise, adult items, and scene-related clothing. Stock and hours are not always predictable. If you are looking for something specific, asking at a bar or sauna is often the quickest way to find out what is currently open and stocked.

Some bars sell branded merchandise. During Belgian Pride week (late May) additional stalls appear in the city centre with pride goods.

General Brussels shopping

Brussels is a good city for shopping in ways that are not specific to the gay scene. The Marolles neighbourhood has a flea market (Vossenplein) that runs every morning, with antiques, vintage clothing, and unusual items at prices well below what you would pay in Paris or Amsterdam. The Galeries Royales Saint-Hubert, a 19th-century covered arcade near the Grand Place, has luxury shops in an impressive space. Rue Neuve is the main commercial high street.

Chocolate shops are everywhere and the quality is generally high. Belgian pralines from a proper chocolatier are a straightforward thing to buy and bring back.
