HI Edmonton

Great location close to everything by foot. Very clean and spacious, staff was kind and helpful. Much more recommend than any motel or hotel in the area.

Super clean and an abundance of facilities available. Staff were helpful and pretty nice spot. The farmers market is lovely if you’re staying on a Saturday. It’s on the pricier side but I’d definitely recommend if ur in the area.

Stayed at HI Edmonton and had a great experience overall. Unlike many hostels in places like Banff or Vancouver that have bars and a more social/party vibe, this one is much quieter—ideal if you’re looking for a good night’s sleep. The showers were clean and well-maintained, and the kitchen is functional and well-equipped. It can get a bit busy during peak times, and having an extra sink would make things more efficient, but overall it works well. There’s also a spacious common area to relax, and the location is convenient for getting around the city. A solid choice for a short stay in Edmonton, especially if you prefer a quieter atmosphere.

Really great experience here! The rooms were clean and cozy. The staff were super helpful and kind and made sure we knew how everything worked for our first time at a Hostel. Everything was very clean, and I slept well. The neighborhood the hostel is in maybe isn’t the best to walk around at night but I mean where in Edmonton is? It was very safe, the doors were multilayered for security, and 24/7 staff were there to ensure no one got in that wasn’t supposed to be in. Overall really fun stay, was a great first hostel experience.

This was the first hostel I’ve stayed in and likely to be my last. I don’t have a wealth of hostel experience to tell you whether or not this place is descent on a hostel level but if you’re looking for a cheap place to stay I’d say spend a bit more and go somewhere safe. We were there as a group and I can say I’d never let my family stay there. Some of the people we came across staying here were pretty sketchy and some of our co workers kept having some of these sketchy people constantly knocking on their doors to the point that they didn’t feel safe leaving their room. The staff of the hostel seemed pleasant so no complaints there but the safety just isn’t taken seriously here. Another co worker forgot his room key and went to get another one they didn’t ask his name or anything and just gave him a key to the room he said he was staying in. The facilities themselves are pretty worn down and some of the rooms weren’t locking properly and one of the washrooms wouldn’t lock. When we left the hostel to go for a walk there were people digging through dumpsters etc. this isn’t a desirable area to say the least. Be aware of your surroundings if you’re planning on staying here. We were set to stay here several nights we ended up leaving after the first night as it just wasn’t worth taking the risk that someone in our group wasn’t going to be hurt. If you’ve stayed in hostels maybe you’re used to this type of atmosphere but be aware of what you’re getting yourself into.

Very clean. Quiet and peaceful atmosphere. The price is great. HI Edmonton has everything you need from a hostel. My sister recommended the place and she even paid for my stay! I recommend this place. I will return.

While the amenities and experience in this HI can be clinical, that is actually a good thing and unique to this experience. The building features interesting architecture that allows for plenty of daylight and the rooms are all spacious, common areas inclusive. Located right next to vibrant Whyte Ave this overall was a pleasant experience even in punishing February weather.
