The Press Gang Restaurant and Oyster Bar

This was the first stop the night we arrived in Halifax and it was excellent. Everything we ordered was delicious and the atmosphere was great.

Celebrated our wedding anniversary here last week. We got the window seat with a candle which was very romantic and cozy. Matt was excellent! He knew the menu well and made great recommendations. The oysters were super yummy! Loved the napkins in the washroom. They were super soft. The steak for the tide and stride? Was just ok. The Keg has better steak. I really enjoyed the music. We thoroughly enjoyed the lemon tarte! It was a great way to celebrate! Would come again!

Best seafood risotto on the planet

We had such a great evening at The Press Gang. The setting alone is worth a visit — tucked into a beautiful historic building with loads of character — but the food and impeccable service made the night. We kicked things off with oyster shooters, then worked our way through the smoked salmon and beef, bacon and blue cheese starters, along with the duck. I had the seafood chowder and a salad, and everything was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. Service was outstanding across the board — professional, warm, and attentive without ever feeling formal or fussy. Great food in a wonderfully atmospheric piece of Halifax history. Highly recommend.

Excellent spot. Freshest oysters I’ve ever had, and I’ve got a new favorite kind after my first visit. Top notch service - friendly and sharp - and the venue has an extremely cool, historical vibe. My personal favorite spot in Halifax.

I thought it was decent idk maybe I got the wrong thing the scallops and steak were good steak better the lobster a little tough and boring ... scallops were meh nothing special. Next time I’ll get somthing else. Caramel cheese cake was good. the bacon wasn't even crispy..... $10 for a bottle of sparkling water is a bit much I think considering they give u tap water that taste like a lake I would think for how expensive it is it would’ve been bottle water not tap. Building is nice and old but it was 30 degrees in there kinda uncomfortable . I obviously got the wrong thing but I think it’s not worth the money tbh.

We received several recommendations for Press Gang and it did not disappoint. The drinks were great, food was delicious. We ordered the Raw oysters, chowder and seafood risotto. If you’re in Halifax, definitely add this to your list.

Try out their signature dishes. Ask the waiters, they will navigate you and you wont be disappointed. Have eaten lots of famous Halifax restaurants, this is the best among all. I can give it an overall 9.5/10

It was fabulous. We sat at the bar and the two bartenders took amazing care of us. Beautiful ambiance, great history, delicious food.

The Drill. What a wonderful eating experience last evening. The element of surprise and the amazing quality of service were greatly appreciated. Compliments to the chef as all 4 courses were absolutely delicious, well presented. And staff were so friendly and informative. We will be back! 😋

This was a perfect evening from start to finish !! We ate there many times in the past loved it and revisited there last summer and it did not disappoint ! The whole night went so smoothly wine went down well and the food was fabulous even made room for dessert! Going back again in August!

The restaurant is about a 5 minute walk from the Halifax Waterfront. The building was very cozy and had a cool vintage vibe. We tried oysters here for the first time, we had the P.E.I, New Brunswick and Nova Scotia oysters which were all delicious. For our main meal we had the Seafood Risotto and the Tide & Surf which were both presented beautifully and tasted amazing. Our dessert was a vanilla creme brulee which was very good! The staff was very nice and fast. There were women's and men's washrooms, which were clean. Overall we had a great time here, and will be back to eat when we are in Halifax.
