Taylor House B&B

My husband and I were first-time Bed and Breakfast guests. Our hosts warmly greeted us in the evening, took out a local map to show us what there was to see, and then took us to our beautiful and warmly decorated room. The cuisine for each morning's breakfast was as eloquent to the eye as delicious as it was to the palate. I truly can not say enough about the elegance of not only the presentation, but also the delectable flavor we were treated to each morning. We expected that we would have a very nice environment, but had no idea with what care and detail we would be treated with, also!

Enjoyed a delightful night. The house is so clean and well maintained. We had a great time talking with Scott. He was so helpful with suggestions for dinner and the breakfast he prepared was phenomenal. We hope to return again soon.

I'm sure there are many lovely bed and breakfasts in Wilmington, but none have Scott and Karen other than the Taylor House Inn! After looking at several in the area, I chose this one to celebrate my birthday based on reviews and vibes, so it is only right that I leave my own. First off, the location cannot be beat. Close to the action, but with some space to breath and relax. The house itself is beautiful and overflowing with charm. Almost like being on a movie set! Which of course it has been, just ask Scott ; ) The breakfasts were delicious and coffee plentiful. Scott was an enormously entertaining host and kept what could have been a nice but quiet breakfast with strangers fun and lively. When the short weekend was over, I was sad to go. The only cure was to start dreaming of the next time I get to visit Taylor House Inn. Thank you so much for an unforgettable weekend! Thank you Scott and Karen for your hospitality. I really appreciated the comfortable accommodations and gracious, peaceful environment of your home. It was a needed departure from the usual hotel while in Wilmington for business. Like I was staying with a friend!

First of all, the communication and hospitality from Scott was above and beyond. The breakfasts were amazing, especially the maple cranberry French toast, and he was even flexible with us on time since we had an early appointment. The rooms are spacious and airy, with comfortable beds. And the location is easily walkable to downtown Wilmington or the Soda Pop District.

My husband and I absolutely loved our stay here as it was our first time at a TRUE bed and breakfast. We didn’t know exactly what to expect as we’d never stayed in a person’s home like this before. Our hosts Scott and Karen were very friendly and informative. As soon as we arrived, Scott gave us the run-down on the place (parking, details about the key/breakfast.) Our suite was beautiful and historic. The decorations and fixtures were all period-themed as the house dates back to 1905. We had the opportunity to chat with Scott about the pro’s and cons’s of the Bed and Breakfast business, and we learned so much about the etiquette of staying in a host’s home. It’s very different than a hotel or even an empty airbnb, for example, it would be good to give your host a heads up regarding when you’ll truly be arriving. We felt that Scott and Karen were easily accessible for our needs. To top it all off, they served us a delicious breakfast and we enjoyed meeting the other guests. I would add that if you are looking for a contact-less / hotel-like experience (nothing wrong with that) then this is probably not what you should expect here. The charm of the stay comes from interacting with Scott and the one-of-a-kind details. Scott and Karen were truly unforgettable! We will be back!

The Taylor House Inn was an absolutely wonderful place to stay! Scott was an incredibly gracious and accommodating host. He stayed up late to warmly welcome us during our late check-in and made himself readily available for any questions throughout our visit. In the morning, he served a delicious homemade breakfast accompanied by thoughtful conversation and a cozy, inviting atmosphere. The entire experience felt personal and welcoming—truly a memorable stay!

Amazing experience! Scott and Karen are incredible hosts! They accommodated my dietary restrictions. The place is very centrally located. I loved waking up to beautiful music! Everything I expected and more!

My childhood friend and I were welcomed with open arms from the moment the front door of this beautiful home opened. Scott and Karen are such vibrant attentive hosts and just an overall joy. The house is beyond charming. The architectural details and decor are stunning. The rooms are spotless and very comfortable. The food is out of this world. Breakfast will never be the same for me after having such incredible breakfasts prepared each morning. If you want an overall five-star experience then this is the place for you!

It was our first time visiting Wilmington and when you walk into the Taylor house right away you feel a warm & welcoming vibe. It is located on a quiet residential street in a very walkable neighborhood. Karen enthusiastically greeted us sharing her local tips, restaurant recommendations and graciously answered any of our questions. Taylor house is immaculate with spacious rooms. Our bathroom was quite large and showering in the clawfoot tub was an authentic experience. All bedrooms are upstairs and quite peaceful. In the hallway is a small shared frig, tea, water cooler, wine glasses and coffee appears at 8am to get you started. Breakfast is thoughtfully prepared, presented and absolutely delicious. From the moment we arrived, Karen greeted us warmly, gave us a tour of their beautiful home, and took the time to learn about our plans and any dietary restrictions. Our room was spotless, and I especially appreciated the absence of a TV—it made for a peaceful and restful stay. The entire home is beautifully maintained, and the bed, along with the bedding, was incredibly comfortable. Breakfast was absolutely divine! On our first morning, we enjoyed fresh grapefruit and delicious frittatas, and on the second, we had parfaits and perfectly made French toast—all thoughtfully prepared to accommodate my wheat allergy. Every bite was fantastic. Scott was an exceptional host, making breakfast a delightful experience. He kept our coffee cups full, served everything with great care, and was a pleasure to chat with. The home is also in a fantastic location—just a short walk to town, where there are plenty of great restaurants, shops, and things to explore. The only minor downside for us was that, as early risers (5 a.m., even on vacation), we found ourselves eagerly waiting for the 8 a.m. coffee service and 9 a.m. breakfast. However, for a meal that good, I’d happily wait until 10! Scott sent us off with well wishes and even took photos of us on the steps before we left—such a thoughtful touch. Truly an outstanding host and a wonderful stay!
