Barbara’s Pavilion is a low‑key gay bar on Centre Street in Oak Cliff, far from the Cedar Springs crowds. It feels more like a neighborhood dive than a tourist stop. The drinks are cheap, the bartenders are quick with a smile, and you can tell the regulars are comfortable here. The back patio is fenced with prison‑style razor wire—a detail that shows up in almost every review. It’s not pretty, but it keeps the space private and a bit edgy. Weekdays it opens at 4 p.m.; weekends the doors swing earlier, at 2 p.m., and it stays alive until 2 a.m. every night. The entrance is easy to miss, so keep an eye out for the unmarked door. If you’re after a quieter, cheaper night than the noisy Oak Lawn strip, this is the place to slip into.

Came to celebrate a birthday and had the worst time dealing with the karaoke dj Alex. They were passive aggressive with their comments and were instigating a problem over me taking a photo of the dj booth. Never met someone so determined to cause a scene over absolutely nothing. Definitely not coming back after that experience.

I love this place for the drinks, price and community it brings. The only reason it’s getting TWO starts is the karaoke DJ. They are so rude. It makes me want to leave. Everything else is great.

Bar staff is so great and great atmosphere. However the individual who runs karaoke on the weekend is incredibly rude. They clearly believe they have power in a way that is not customer friendly. Wish we could get someone even slightly kinder to run that. Because the current person kills the vibe. Which is a shame since the bar and door staff are such a gem. But the karaoke runner is bringing the place down.
